Jackson County Fair
JACKSON, MN – A field of 23 360 winged sprint cars turned out for the 2015 Jackson County Fair on Saturday, July 25 for the Hall of Fame Night and Barb Wieskus Memorial at Jackson Speedway. All told, 79 race cars were in the pits to compete in the evening’s racing action, which was sponsored by Houseman Oil of Eshterville, IA and Jackson Sports. With sprints from the Property Solutions of America Midwest Sprint Touring Series on hand, the evening’s racing action was capped off with fireworks over the historic half-mile facility.
Claiming the Feature wins in the Minnesota West Sport Compact Class was Megan Sandvig of Estherville, IA, while Justin Luinenburg of Reading, MN took the checkers in the Loosbrock Digging Service IMCA Hobby Stock feature. Winning the Bohl’s Small Engine and Marine Sport Modifieds was Jason Andrews of Estherville, IA while Dustin Larson of Worthington, MN claimed the checkers in the Hometown Motors IMCA Stock Car Feature. For the Wilmont Oil/Redline Racing IMCA A Modified event Roger Nielsen of Dolliver, IA earned the victory. To conclude the evening’s features, the Barb Wieskus Memorial, Property Services of America MSTS/Last Deck 360 Winged Sprint A Feature checkers went to Bill Boles of Harris, IA.
In heat race action, the Sport Compact winners were Megan Sandvig and Kaytee DeVries, while Hobby Stock heat wins went to Corey Schreiber, Justin Nehring and Austin Jahnz. Winning the Sport Modified heats were Nathan Chukuske, Dan Paplow and Bruce Egeland with the Stock Car heat wins going to Jim Larson and Luke Sathoff. Winning the A Modified heat races were Josh Rogotzke and Ben Chukuske. For the Sprint Car heat races, the checkers went to Cody Hansen, Wade Nygaard and Dylan Peterson.
This coming Saturday, August 1, will be Jam the Stands Night for the Minnesota Corn Growers Association’s Ethanol-Field to Fuel Night. Grandstand admission is FREE for racing fans! All five classes of cars will be on hand with hot laps set for 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow.
