I just had a thought, and the answer to my question so far isn't easy to find. My thought was that I wonder how much the different sprint car frames weigh. I saw that Triple X lists their weights and I saw where someone said their Maxim was about 10 pounds lighter than their J&J. That's about all I find. Does anyone have an apples to apples (i.e. all 87/40) comparison of the different manufacturers frame weights?  

 

This is is for informational purposes only.  I really don't care, just interested in knowing.  Remember....frame weight....not ore origination, global economics, race promotion, posse vs the world, motor cost, why wing or non wing racing isn't real racing, or any other topic that  has ever made it onto page 3.

Most cars are a copy of Maxim and rules dictate size of tubeing in chassis.  I think all mfg have reg cage height and tall cages.  Some are built with a driver safety bar on left side of cockpit and some on both sides and alot of them without these bars.  There are other little variations like .095 TB tubes and .125 tubes, so you would have to compair 2 cars alike.  These are all options that builders have.

Depending on who the frame is made for will give you part of the anwser. 

 4130 1 1/2" .095 wall has a manufacturing tolerance of  +/-10% due to manufacturing differences. As always shaving weight is an advantage. .095 thickness is 1.4442 LBS per foot. At the tolerance of -10% on .095 wall it should be roughly 1.350 LBS per foot... tube grinding is pretty good business right now.

 Since no one else will give a number  i will.  I say 185 give or take 10 pounds.
