My comments are not senseless , Sharon does have a dust problem but they put new clay down over off season ( not patched ) all around track , they have made more changes there then some other tracks, drivers aren't complaining about surface , and they are not a weekly 410 track but have scheduled more races this year then previous years . I told you how I would take care of home built motor program , but the costs for all teams are out of control .
I don't blame WoO for all problems , I don't agree with the way they've handled some of various rules which tracks are following these days . Racing I believe can't continue this way with the high costs , as teams are out of motors by July or August , so cost saving measures need to be found don't you think ?

I drove out to Ohio for (1) Lou Blaney Nemorial race...only to find that Ohio drivers do not support he place,.
Dust was flying on the first lap of htlaps and the racing was subpar on a track that was patched and pretty much joke conditions...the most excitement of the night was watching the sherrifs issue warnings to fans who had too much to drink.
|
Ya, 35 cars is a terrible show....no support. Wait, I thought it was about "quality" not "quantity" with you guys?

I see you changed "work with" to "worked with". You do know working with someone means more than offering a suggestion when you run into them behind the stands for 45 seconds! It means being in the office with a promoter for hours going over possibilities and what is really feasable to impliment.

maybe he's responsible for "porkchop" at the Nationals a few years back.....we now know where to place the blame!

I don't understand the complaining about the "Dust" at a dirt track! That is part of the package! If you want to see them go really fast, it needs to be tacky, with the rolled up balls of mud flying into the stands. Sounds you want a dry/slick track to watch them skate around the track.

I think the All-Star Show at Sharon had 8 former World of Outlaws winners in the field, slightly more impressive than the usual PA stuff for sure. Oh and by the way BRR, ever since you tried to pound on Sheldon he has done better and better, I think I remember somebody saying you would eat those words, AGAIN....

The complaining about dust at a dirt track is not only a crowd comfort issue, it is a safety and health issue. Dirt traks are businesses, not much different than pipe yards, mills, construction sites etc. Complaints from neighbors near dirt tracks have caused serious issues with track owners in the past and as rural developements continue to close in, it will only become more of an issue. It's much better for the track owners to police themselves than have OSHA or the EPA to get envolved.

So according to the "home built motor" rules you want Joe Gaerte would have been considered to be running a home built motor? As would any son of Ott, Garrett, Wesmar etc who raced a sprint car. Seems they would have an advantage over a guy like Lynton Jefferies trying to build his own motor since he would not have the resourses of a motor builder like Gaerte!
Would everyone need to buy their own CNC to port their heads? Not going to be competetive with out it.
If they take parts to a profesional machine shop for work are they then not home built motors?

1. worked with or conjunction with Port Royal ,Steve O Neal , Bob Miller , Steve Inch-Charlie Paige , Dave Willoughby , Knoxville , Brian Stickel , now GM there , have discussed some ideas with Aaron Fry of BOSS series on bringing his series to Pa , have made contacts for him with area tracks to start discussions with him for his schedule . Know alot of people in the racing industry including NSCHOF EXCUTIVE DIRECTOR Bob Baker and others .
2. Done giveaways, autograph sessions, made suggestions to tracks , one was hot air hand dryers to Selinsgrove , have done contingency awards for tracks such Grandview , Selinsgrove by contacting area racing businesses , years ago did several autgraph sessions at Knoxville in the hall outside fourth turn , quite a while back , had many good drivers-attend , made suggestions to Port Royal to Mr Aumiller regarding procedure at french fry stands , entrance to grandstand , etc , have contributed money to drivers and fans for various rewards or giveaways and more . Have passed on opinions from fans as to what they want to see as far sanctioning groups . Had a few different fan organizations for fans to save them money . Am considering doing a few new things again to assist or help fans .
3. had some ideas to increase sales , but most tracks don't want you to be involved with those type of things , as there management or fair boards do the decision making
4.some ideas I had Bob Miller we discussed and he used them , have passed out purse sheets to drivers to let them know of the upcoming purse for a certain race . have done continuous work for Bob Miller when he needed something done he called me or sent something to me , if I did something I did on a regular basis such as fan events at Selinsgrove
also have done alot of fan activities as stated because this is more important to me then track management issues , sent letters or suggestions to WRG , they did not respond accept for once , they probably took offense to some suggestions but got poor response from them but have a good relationship with Brian Carter and others . Any time I am called upon by people who know me I gladly help in anyway possible . I hope this clarifies your questions , I don't proclaim to have all the answers , I just try to help and grow racing for fans to see that racing is fun to all interested parties .

I usualy run into Brian Stickel every week at Knoxville. I will ask him how much you "work with" him and what he has done at Knoxville Raceway that was actually your idea.
You know Bob Baker at the Hall of Fame! Wow, I'm impressed. Thousands know him. He is the executor of my will!
I find it hard to believe any people in the industry take you very serious with your grammer and typing being so bad. If your letters to WRG & others are like your posts here they probably think they are from a 12 year old kid.

Not to defend Mr Altman, but when attacking someone's "grammer", you may want to spell it "grammar".
Haha.

One thing is for certain.....if you have someone's ear or frienship in the racing community, rather than criticizing someone else, get involved and share YOUR ideas. One thing that I have discovered over the years is this....most promoters and track owners don't want to listen because they seem to think they already have all the answers or don't choose to put much stock in what fans think. And, I've also discovered that those who sit back and criticize, are much like the person who doesn't vote, but still gripes.

I'm not the one writing letters to the WRG trying to tell them I know how to do what they do better!

Never claimed to be Brians friend or have his ear. I do see him most weeks and say Hi. Sure it will not be a problem to say "I hear Robert Altman works with you to make everything better here at Knoxville" and see how he responds.

Ok re-read what I posted. You DID NOT answer a single question I had concerning how you would police a home built engine incentive program and make sure no one was playing the system. As usual, not one single detail to explain specifically how you would do any of these things you want to do. I find it very hard to believe you've done half the shit you said you have because you can't even answer a single question in detail.

Also that is a spelling error, not a grammar error. Some of Mr Altman's posts are kind of hard to make sense of.

Well stated. Your post is proof that all this guy does is throw all of these ideas out there about what he wants to see without giving a single thought as to whether or not it would be practical or even possible. No promoter in their right mind is going to take someone like him seriously.

The parts in a top notch 410 motor still cost $40k and more importantly they don't last long, doesn't matter who builds it. There isn't much difference in the labor to build a 305 engine vs 410, only parts and how often. Only nice way to save money on a 410 is to unhook them so they have to detune them. Limiting the motors outright detracts from the sport. Limiting traction adds to it. Anything that takes some of the pressure off of daddy's wallet and puts it in the hands of drivers and set-up men adds to the sport.
They don't even know how to spell sprint car
much less chromoly...http://www.ycmco.com

Well its started again that I get constant harassment for voicing my opinion , ok you guys don't agree thats ok ,as you are entitled to your opinions as I am to mine. I guess this has become entertaining to the many who view my messages. I take offense to being criticized for the way I write . I write about my ideas about racing , the tracks , fans like you guys who follow this message board. Yes, I have worked in conjunction with area tracks , promoters, fans, drivers, and team owners to present various activities, fan promotions , racing tours ( 9 years to Knoxville Nationals) helped Brian Stickel or assisted him in a promotion he did at Knoxville some time ago for fans of winning tickets, hotel package , a suite courtesy of Knoxville and other incentives that Knoxville provided . I am not looking for any accolades or applause , I just do alot of things for fans because I enjoy doing them . You people who criticize me don't know me and what I try to do to help or assist any fan who wants to enjoy racing trips, autograph sessions, prizes, money prizes, contingency awards for drivers and other items which I spend a lot of time in doing and plan on doing more in the near future . I thank you always for reading and wish you could meet me and realize I am not as silly as you think I am , or is this a GAME TO YOU GUYS . This is not to me because each one of you is important to me , no matter what you think of me . I will answer anything I have nothing to hide , just passion for this sport I grew up with and around helping or watching a genius motor builder Bud Grimm , Ray Tilley's car owner , and others when racing was racing as a sport more then today ,as today its all about money not real fun .

I would rather sit down low in turn one at Chico during all of hot laps than be stuck next to this idiot for 5 minutes.
