FVP National Sprint League to Add 360 sprint car divisions in 2016!
Windom, MN (June 29, 2015) – The FVP National Sprint League’s inaugural season in 2015 has gotten off to an incredible start! Though the bulk of the season remains, the series is already looking to 2016 as well. With that in mind, the NSL would like to announce that it will expand its series in 2016 to include the 360 sprint car division!
Adding 360’s is a natural fit for the business model already established by the FVP National Sprint League. Plans are currently underway to include six to seven regional series throughout the Midwest from Minnesota to Texas. More information will be announced about the National Sprint League 360 divisions in the next several weeks!
NSL founder Tod Quiring adds, “With the current business model we have established with the FVP National Sprint League 410 division, we see a great opportunity in getting not only our current marketing partners involved, but also adding new marketing partners in the expansion of the regional 360 NSL division. We are looking forward to announcing our regions and drivers in the weeks to come.”

So, I will admit that I have never understood the NSL business model. However, this one really has me scratching my head. One of the selling points of the NSL was it allowed promoters to book 410 shows for less than a WOO show or the risk of a putting a "Outlaw/non-sanctioned" race. While the normal tracks stepped up to book a NSL race, there were several tracks that put on a 410 race for the first time in a long time.
Now, next year those same tracks can now book a NSL event, but it will be a 360 show instead of a 410 show. It seems like they are hurting thier own ability to promote races by diluting the series.
Finally, if they were going to do this, I would have stayed away from the regional series. There is a long list of regional ASCS series dead on the side of the road. A national 360 tour would have been the only answer that I would have thought about.

Guess it's a good thing you are not the one doing this. I believe Tod has proven he knows what he is doing.

He definitely had a proven record in maturing businesses into profitable entities and running teams, but let's not put the cart in front of the horse on the series deal yet. It looks like the NSL will keep evolving into a great organization for sprint car racing and has had great success so far, and all the pieces seem to be in place, but these things require time before they can be considered successful or not. I personally think it will be a staple in the future but there's definitely volatility in these things and it's too early to say with absolute certainty.

There's a whole bunch of 360s in the midwest. But ASCS let things get so far out of control that many just said forget it. The head rules have gotten almost non-existent and who knows how big some of the "360" motors are. If he wants it to succeed he'll have to get back to teching consistently to restore confidence in what you're racing against. And he needs someone to run the 360 side that knows this and knows those folks and the tracks they run. I don't know if he can hire him away from his current position but that guy is Tommy Estes. It was rumored last year that Tommy was interested in buying NCRA but it didn't happen. With Todd's money and marketing and Tommy's management, 360s could thrive again in the midwest.

Well his 410 series did not mean bye bye to MOWA or IRA. Tod has shown he will work with other series rather than try to run against them and put them out of business.

Tod has shown that he isn't doing the things he's doing to run anybody out. Instead, he's working with and trying to strengthen the sprint car world in the midwest. He suggested to track owners and promoters the ticket prices he thought would make the NSL the most attractive to fans and still enable a good purse, and profits for tracks and promoters. The prices most tracks are charging are considerably higher than he suggested. That in itself might cause a problem for what I consider short-term greed by those that Tod has given race dates to. (NOT ALL, but too many) Years ago, when it was simply track owners, they understood that fair ticket prices brought more fans, more fans meant more money, more money meant better purses, which meant more drivers, which attracted even more fans. Somehow too much of today's local race venues have forgoten that golden principle. Too make up for it, they've taken sprint car tracks and added 4 additional types of race cars to try and compensate for the gate.

He is implying promoters will take the probably cheaper NSL 360 series instead of wanting a NSL 410 event. I think he is wrong but that is just my opinion.

its my opinion we'll see Quiring take over the UMSS, JSTS, MSTS, NE360, NCRA, Sprint Invaders, and possible ASCS Sooner, Warrior and RedRiver. I think Quiring is ready to take over sanction racing in the Midwest.

I read it as a 360 series as a support class to the 410s.. not a seperate event?

This is interesting. Will the 360 class be a support class when a 410 NSL show is booked or will some tracks be stand alone 360 events?
Farmington, Mo. is a 410 track (great NSL show there this year) but most all other Missouri tracks race 360's.

From the original post
"Adding 360’s is a natural fit for the business model already established by the FVP National Sprint League. Plans are currently underway to include six to seven regional series throughout the Midwest from Minnesota to Texas. More information will be announced about the National Sprint League 360 divisions in the next several weeks!"
With 6 to 7 regions plus the 410 series, there are going to have to be stand alone shows to have enough races to justify having a series. This will be espically true for the outer regions of the map. (Minnesota and Texas)
While others have spoken highly that Tod will be able to bring the cost down in the 360 races and restore some stability in the 360 series, I still maintain that those actions will hurt his 410 series. How many times have we heard recently that the reason 410's have rebounded lately is because of all of the problems with the ASCS series and 360 racing in general.
Finally, I don't think having a 360 NSL series as a support show for a 410 NSL show makes any sense. How many extra tickets are you going to sell by having a 360 NSL support show. I would guess that everyone that was going to go to watch the 360 would already be there to watch a 410.

Does anyone know if the NSL 410 series is charging a sanction fee to the tracks for their races? I would assume the answer is no, but have no hard evidence to the contrary.
