THAT ^^^ is the margin of victory at the last SUPR race held at ALT over 7 years ago taken by Ron Skinner! (it was actually May 2008 as 2009 got rained out)

Thursday will mark the first time since then that the P&W Sales SUPR Late Models will race at Ark-La-Tex Speedway!

With much respect to Ray Moore's lap 98 pass in the inaugural Pelican 100 and Scott Bloomquist's late race pass at the 2014 Lucas Oil race, the most exciting, under the checkers Late Model finish at Ark-La-Tex was that 2008 SUPR race!

Don't let the headline fool you here... http://www.suprracing.com/2008_News/News_050308.htm There's a little glitch in the SUPR website news archives that caused that headline to appear there incorrectly although I'm sure Allen Tippen & Kenny Merchant like it just fine!. The story with it is the right one from 2008.

FOUR-time SUPR champion Rob Litton was the racer who won the last ALT SUPR race after a race-long, side-by-side duel with Lee Davis. Davis had won a photo finish the week before in Beaumont. As the #‎6X and the then #21 (both blue cars) raced through turns 3 and 4 for the final time, they swapped 'slide-jobs' (the good kind that clear!) and yet still ended up side-by-side down the straight with Davis getting 2nd in the photo-finish that time.

26 cars were on hand that night. Here's how they finished: (1) Rob Litton, (2) Lee Davis, (3) Kenny Merchant, (4) Ray Moore, (5) Howard Willis, (6) Kevin Sitton, (7) Ronny Adams, (8) Kyle Cummings, (9) Duke Whiseant, (10) Robbie Stuart, (11) Jason Ingalls, (12) Gary Christian, (13) Jim Bryant, (14) Jeff Chandler, (15) Nick Brown, (16) Jody Prince, (17) Allen Tippen, (18) Michael Coleman, (19) Rusty Cummings, (20) Doug Ingalls, (21) Heath Culp, (22) Jon Mitchell.

There are some great names in that rundown, aren't there?!

Back on May 2nd, CCSDS was here for a similar purse and had a 34 car field on hand. Timothy Culp claimed that win with Kyle Cummings, 2nd. SUPR will be at Timberline & LSS on Friday & Saturday while CCSDS will be in Greenville, Mississippi on those two nights. Late Model racers love to run at Ark-La-Tex Speedway and they know they can learn a lot about their cars on our smooth, wide racing surface. This would be a great way for cars from both sanctioning bodies to start off their Independence weekend and thereby making it a great place for the Late Model fans to start out theirs too!

Come watch some more Dirt Late Model history be made at the #‎Landof3WIDE THIS THURSDAY 7:30!!!

More pics from that night in 2008 are posted in the comments below where that above link got posted on the Ark-La-Tex Speedway facebook page from Scott's Custom Art!
