Better be on alert come August because that Muddy No. 2 is unreal fast. Lasoski with one of the most impressive wins I can remember in the past few years tonight at Knoxville.

The same thing gets posted every year: Schatz better be scared or worried or step up his game come August. Yet he has still kicked the ever-loving shit out of the field on Saturday of the Nationals eight times in nine years, no matter where he has started.

I suspect this year will be more of the same. Schatz better be scared or worried or will need to step up his game -- right up until he hammers the field again to win the Nationals.

So, I guess if you can't beat him, you wreck him?  That sounds intelligent.  It seams to me Donny races everybody really clean.

In the last 9 years, the only car that's been faster than Schatz throughout the week AND at the end of the race have been Sammy in 2010 (the year he was leading and blew the tire). Brown has been close, but hasn't been able to seal the deal obviously. I'd like to see the Dude competitive, but he seems to have more car/motor issues that week than anyone.

Danny is one of the best sprint car drivers of all time and his career numbers at Knoxville tell me that he's ALWAYS a threat when he races there no matter if its a regular show.or the nationals. In my opinion the list of drivers that could once and for all end Schatz dominance at Knoxville is very small but with the season Danny is having so far, I'd put him on it as well as Brian Brown. Speaking of Brown, I'd LOVE to see him win the Nationals.

Lasoski looked impressive dominating a field with a half-dozen Lakeside rainout Outlaw refugees, although he did start from the pole.  The test is this Saturday with the full Oultaw field.  If he can dominate the rest of the Oultaws and finish ahead of Schatz, he may just have the car this year.

Schatz was horrible last year for the WoO show in Knoxville, believe he finished 12th no where near contention all night in anything. Then 2 months later kicked everyones ass @ the Nationals. Schatz and his team have figured out when the money is on the line they get the job done. I dont think his team gets enough credit for how spot on they are every night. Sure random stuff happens but they are able to put a car underneath Schatz where we has a shot to win night in and night out. Im not saying the reason why Schatz is so good is because of his team but Schatz and Warner together along with the 2 crew guys is an almost unbeatable combination.

Schatz steps it up to another level every August. For anyone to beat him I believe he will have to have a string of bad luck or something go wrong with his equipment. Dude and Brown will be his biggest challengers this year.

The Dude passed Schatzy on the last lap on Friday and depending on your point of view,  might have passed him as many as three times in the last two laps.....that does not happen very often.

You mean bad luck like blowing an engine on your Qualifying night and having to start in the B Main on Saturday Night. Oh wait, that happened and he still won!! Lol...

Jeff Swindell came out of the B in the mid 90's and got 2nd. Heck of a run

And he did it in 30 laps....bet if that race was 50 he'd have won it. He was bad fast at the end of that race.

You must have memory loss.

As mentioned Jeff Swindell came out of the B and got second in a 30 lap race, sometime in the early/mid 90's.

Lasoski came out of the B and ran 4th in the A, also in a 30 lap race in 2006.  I wasn't there for Swindell's run but I was for Lasoski's.   The Dude was the fastest car on the track the whole race, he didn't need another 20 laps, IMO 5 more laps he would've had the lead.

Not sure if there are others but both of those finished higher than Wolfie did in 1990.

What made Wolfie's run so impressive was that he started in the D.   If Wolfie would have had the benefit of a 50 lap race he may have won it, or his engine might not have made it to the end and diminished a very impressive run.

Ah the good old days when it was a "sprint" car race without a scheduled pit stop.

You couldn't go 30 laps without a fuel stop these days anyway unless it went green to checker.

Yes he's certainly dominated the win column however I wouldn't consider every win a shit kicker. The stands will be rocking when someone else wins.
