Man the sprint cars put on a good show there. Its a little narrow at times. But there were even some good late race passes in the heats. The feature was spectacular once again. This is quickly turning into one of my favorite places to see the winged cars go wheel to wheel. If you haven't made it to one of the Angell Park shows yet, do yourself a favor and get to one of the four remaining ones. If the first two shows are an indication, you will NOT be disappointed. It also looks like a blast behind the wheel
Real race cars don't have fenders...

Sure will be interesting when the NSL/IRA run there together in August! That should be a barn burner.

Here are the Angel Park Highlights from last night. Th is place is fast becoming my favorite track for good racing. The IRA will be there 4 more times this season. These are must-see races. Future dates: June 21, July 19, August 23, August 30. with the NSL. I still wonder why it is so hard to post a good link here these days. I used to be able to embed the video but not anymore.

Thanks for sharing... what a racey joint!
I wish all the promoters would figure out that slick to a curb is the BEST show bar-none.

For some reason the photo gallery stopped working as well. I get a ton of good pics during the season and would like to share a few but this thing is no longer Firefox on Linux friendly. Not sure how it is with the big W, haven't used that for two years and not looking back. Full functionality on every other board I frequent so there's something off kilter here. Evidently board maintenace and functionality are not a priority. Usually boils down to a lack of funding otherwise it would seem to be a priority to upgrade.

Great video but it reminded me why I prefer the infield with a camera and ear plugs. Uggghhhh announcers. LOL

The first thing to do whenever watching an IRA video is to turn the sound off.

Ray Underwood (the IRA announcer) does an excellent job. Don't let a snippet of video form your opinion. He knows when to not talk, and when to turn it up. I've been going to races for 35+ years now, and my uncle is the announcer at slinger for decades now. He is very successful and deals with the same stuff, people getting off on hating on them. It seems like no announcer is safe from people shitting on their craft, and even the best ones receive unwarranted criticism. The IRA has been excellent these last few years and Ray is one component of that. There is no one else that I would rather have announcing than him. He's also a very decent, friendly guy face to face and always remembers me even though I go months without seeing him in person.

Back to topic, yes Angell Park is awesome! Had a great time watching from inside turn 3/4. Can't wait to be back June 22nd. Thanks to Ian Madsen for showing up and literally driving the tires off the #18, was a hell of an effort and entertaining to watch. Props to Mike Reinke who stayed in control throughout a crazy last few laps to finish 2nd from starting 10th. He was catching Bill at the end too I might add. They worked the track before the A main and it helped, made for a 2 groove surface. I really enjoyed watching cars hitting the berm in 4 and literally launching forward, all 4 wheels in the air. Absolutely spine tingling.

Don't try and compare Todd Thelen (A legend from slinger) to Ray Underwood (aka Darrell Waltrip Jr) it just makes you look stupid.

I'm not a critic, just don't care to listen to that pro wrestling style hype. I never hear them anyway, in fact I knew Paul Pittman for years before he moved south and don't believe I ever heard him announce an IRA race. Sometimes I can hear snippets between races but that's about it. Probably if I sat in the stands my preferred style of announcing would come in close to the Justin Zoch end of the spectrum. Tell me what kind of chassis and motor, name the sponsors and tell me a little about the driver in a normal voice.
