Watching Jesse at XX speedway was about as good as it gets for a sprint car fan, what a shame to have lost him at such a young age.He will be fondly remembered and mentioned for many yrs. here in Missouri and I know many other parts of the country.

Only had the privilege of seeing "the Rocket" race once. That was at a sprint car at the old Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix. During the heat race he drifted high in the second turn and slapped the wall very hard. Despite that he kept his foot to the floor and finished the race qualifying for the main event. After the races that evening I was in the pits and talked with him for a couple of minutes. I commented to him that I wasn't sure the car was going to hold together after he'd hit the wall so hard. He looked up and sheepishly replied, "I wasn't either." Definitely a hard races!
