If they keep cancelling shows like they have been they are not going to get many people to commit to coming due to uncertainty if the show will still be on. at least they cancelled now and not with six laps to go like they did to the IMCA sprints

I feel obligated to speak out on their behalf. Owatonna has a long history of racing dating back to the legends of the old IMCA Fair circuit. The promoters are trying to keep auto racing going down there because once the Fairgrounds tracks sit idle for a couple years the Fair Boards generally find other uses.
As far as shortening the IMCA Sprint Feature I can relate to your frustration but the majority of fans were there to see the Wissota Challenge Series Late Model Feature. The promoters explained to me that they are working with a strict curfew. If they had canceled the Late Model Feature (headliner class on that particular evening) they'd have had a riot on their hands. The IMCA Sprints are the headliner class at Arlington but they're not when they run in conjunction with a $2,000 to win WCS race.
I have gone on record many times about my love of Sprint Car racing. Consequently, I enjoy watching the IMCA Sprints and would have liked to have seen that event run to conclusion. On the other hand, if I was going to call any track my "home track" it would be Cedar Lake. Not only do I enjoy watching John Kaanta, Joel Cryderman, Pat Doar and Steve Laursen race but I know them personally from my work with the Racing Connection at Cedar Lake. No offense but I was one of the couple thousand people who would have joined in the riot if the Challenge Series didn't run their Feature. On that particular night even though I enjoy IMCA Sprint racing I was eagerly anticipating watching the WCS Feature.
They're fighting an uphill battle down there. I can understand your frustration as a racer but in that particular case the Sprints weren't the main attraction. I can think of several tracks that run under curfews that are forced to put a time limit on races, especially the support classes. It's unfortunate but that's the way it is now days.
