Sprint Car Racing, Hot Rod Show & More Saturday Night
Caney Kansas Ready For Memorial Day Special

Tulsa OK (May 19, 2015) – AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories presents round number six of the Oil Capital Racing Series 2015 sprint car season as the central plains tour moves to the Caney Valley Speedway this Saturday night for a Memorial Day holiday event paying the winner an extra 4,000 bits making for a total take of 16,000 bits.

Fans going to see the AmeriFlex / OCRS races can also take in the 11th Annual Caney Mayfest Car Show that will be located on Caney’s 4th Street, just skirting the downtown district. The car show will run from 9am to 3pm and feature several hotrods and street rods of all types. This is all part of the annual Caney Mayfest which runs from Friday May 22nd through Monday May 24th.

The AmeriFlex / OCRS series is returning to the southern Kansas track after a trip there on May 2nd which saw Jamie Passmore score his first win of 2015. A new points leader will sign in as Norman Oklahoma’s Sheldon Barksdale took over the coveted top spot after last week’s event at the Flint Creek Speedway.

Mustang’s Robert Sellers scored the win at Flint Creek Speedway for his second win of the young season. His accomplishment moved him into second place in the standings while Brian McClelland moved into third. Sean McClelland drops out of the point lead to fourth after missing last weekends action while Tulsa’s Brent Bates rounds out the top five.

Nutz n’ Boltz

King of the Valley: Jamie Passmore’s win at Caney Valley on May 2nd was his first in AmeriFlex / OCRS competition since a 4th of July weekend romp last year at you guessed it….. Caney Valley Speedway. Passmore also won at CVS 20 years ago for his first career sprint car victory. Flint Creek could have been Passmore’s second win a row but air leaked out one of his chocolate donuts while leading.

Trophy Hunting: While he now has the AmeriFlex / OCRS championship points lead, Sheldon Barksdale is still on the hunt for that first career victory. They say consistency wins championships. Barksdale is the only driver to finish in the top 10 in all 5 races held so far this year. Now he is the hunted.

Close Quarters: – One thing about ¼ - mile racetracks, you can always see some of the closest and tightest racing on such confined bullrings. Saturday’s event at Caney Valley will be the third event in a row running on the quarters. The previous three were Lawton, Caney Valley and Flint Creek Speedway’s. Next up after Caney Valley, Lawton Speedway, Oklahoma’s most famous quarter.

Flipping Isn’t So Bad – Glen Passmore took a hard hit at Flint Creek and then rolled the GAP Roofing number 69. Passmore was sporting a full containment safety seat and said in the pits afterwards; “That’s my first hard crash suing a containment seat and it wasn’t too bad.” That being the case Glen, lets see not the Eagle chassis take flight anymore.

Debut Part Deux – Zach Chappell attempted to make his 2015 AmeriFlex / OCRS debut at Flint Creek but a mechanical woe parked the Maxim sprinter after hot laps. Problem is being corrected and he will attempt his official debut the next time out.

Whew Slid One In – Rainouts in the region has been aplenty for all racetracks and sanctioning bodies. The AmeriFlex / OCRS series event at the Salina Highbanks fell victim to dampness Saturday but got the show in at Flint Creek Speedway when odds were against that from happening earlier in the week. Dates are being addressed to make-up the Highbanks event.

A Record In The Making? – Not a record anyone wants to see except farmers with dry ponds, but to give an indication how wet it’s been, Tulsa is experiencing the sixth wettest May on record for the first 18 days of the month with just a tick under 7 inches of rainfall. There hasn’t been even 2 inches in any of the past 5 years for the same period of time. This prompted one motor builder to acknowledge that without races getting in, the orders at the shop to refresh motors could look pretty bleak this year.

So let’s see here: It’s Car Shows, Mayfest and AmeriFlex / OCRS sprint car racing this Saturday in Caney Kansas. Load up the family and come out for a complete day of great entertainment since after all: ‘Work Is Highly Overrated’.
