RRS 5/8 Rained Out; Next Up: $25,000 Panhandle 30 on Sunday May 24
Wichita Falls, TX (5/8/15) by DarinShort.com. Between the 3.97" of rain that has fallen on Red River Speedway (RRS) during the past couple of days through this morning, coupled with the forecast of 70% chance of strong to severe thunderstorms today, it has caused tonight's racing event to be rained out.
We would ask that all race fans and teams pay extra special attention to the weather conditions in their area, as there are more severe storms forecast today and tomorrow in the region. Be extra careful traveling and watch for flooded roadways, and if you are at home have an action plan in place to get to your safe area if severe weather is about to strike.
With tonight's rainout, the next RRS event will be Sunday, May 24th with the running of the $25,000 Panhandle 30; featuring $3,000 to win and $175 to start for Limited Modifieds, plus $1,000 to win each in the Sprint Cars and Modifieds. Races are set for 7pm. Click www.RRSpeedway.com for complete event details and flyer.
Due to all of the rainouts, we're going to change things up a bit for the previously scheduled Open Practice night on Friday, May 22:
-We will still be having open practice (for any and all racing divisions), with all pit passes $15 (all ages) and the grandstand will be open with free admission. Gates open by 7pm and practice will run until around 10:30pm.
-However, drivers attending the Open Practice in the Factory Stocks, Mini Stocks and Pro Stocks will each get to have some added fun. Each division will have a $200 to win "Winner Takes All Dash for Cash" later on in the practice session. There is no entry fee or transponder fee to participate, just your $15 pit pass when you arrive for practice.
-Drivers choosing to take part in the Dash for Cash will sign up their car and draw for position at a time and location announced in the pit area during practice. The number of laps in each Dash will be determined by the number of drivers that sign up in each division. Posted RRS rules for each division will be in effect.
Please make plans to join us for the $25,000 Panhandle 30 on Sunday, May 24th. We're hoping to make it a Memorial Day weekend tradition at Red River Speedway. And in the meantime, please pay extra attention to the ever changing weather conditions in your area during this extra long severe season that 2015 has become.
And once this wet part of the season has passed, we'll once again get to Kick a Little Dirt at Red River Speedway!
