i can't believe I'm going to defend posse fans but here goes. we went to the NSL show at Burlingto. On our left was a couple with a college age daughter with her boyfriend. On our right was a couple about 50. Very similar ages and both were from Knoxville. Here's the difference- the people on the left acted like they were the anointed royalty of sprint car fans because as the told me several times "we LIVE IN KNOXVILLE." The couple on the right were very unassuming and let us know how lucky they were to live in Knoxville and get to see great racing every Saturday night in there home town.
I believe there are equally great fans wherever u go , but as fans are people we all have different personalities and convey our enthusiasm for our sport differently. So it's not just posse fans its everywhere. Some of us just keep it to ourselves get in the car n get it down the road to see the next race.

Exactly. I've been to a lot of different places and in every single one of those places there has been nice people and there's been idiots. Doesn't matter where you go, some some people suck. I do understand where some people come from who get sick of hearing posse “fans" brag about our racers as if they're somehow superior to all of the rest. Are they good? Hell yeah they are. I watch them race multiple times every weekend and no doubt, Central Pa has some damn good drivers who can compete with anyone, anywhere. But so does Ohio, Knoxville, California and many other places across the country. I don't mind people being proud of their locals, god knows I am. I love watching a posse guy defend our home turf against the outlaws and I was very proud when Ryan Smith towed out to Attica and beat a very good field of ASCoC racers on their home turf but it doesn't have to turn into what it unfortunately, often times does and that's chest thumping and talking shit about drivers who aren't from Pa. I respect anyone who has the sack to strap into a sprinter and gas it up and I appreciate talent whether it comes from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa, or California. I think 90% of sprint car fans in all regions feel the same way. Unfortunately, Pennsylvania fans have been typecast as cocky, narcissistic idiots because of a few idiots. I think fans from all of the aforementioned sprint car hotbeds should be proud of their drivers because they all have some very good ones who are capable of winning anywhere against anyone but I've never understood why it has to turn into chest thumping and bashing the way it often times does. Its possible to be proud without being an asshole and I don't get why some people can't comprehend that.

Yup, good fans & a holes everywhere. I have met a lot of great Pa & Cali & Ohio fans at the Nationals. The problem is people like cubic dollars and his racist comments toward peolpe in China & his "the posse drivers are so great they can beat the outlaws driving any junk chassis". A few bad apples can turn folks against all fans from one area. Pride in your locals is great, and i love the way 99% of Pa fans support their drives. But too often only the 1% that are the A holes post on message boards. There are great drivers everywhere, go out and support your local guys. There is no need for special races to see which region is best. Love what you have, go see the others when you can.

I'm just jealous that I don't live in an area that has good sprint car racing. Racing in Texas sucks for the most part. You have to leave the state for sure to see good sprint car racing. If I lived in Iowa and could go to Knoxville every week I'd be damn happy about it too... I'm sure I could say the same thing about Pennsylvania too. One of these days I hope to get to that area and take in a race or two.

I know all possee fans aren't idiots, and as a Knoxville fan myself, yes I chest thump sometimes but doesn't every fan, of a region, driver, team do so sometimes?
It wouldn't bother me what they were actually saying but more of their overall arrogant attitude, which probably carries over into their life outside of racing.
Don't group a small minority with how the larger majority actually is and feels.
Keep It Real

I do have to say I have been blessed all my life. I have been going to races since I can remember which is about 1957 and spent most of my life 3 days a week at tracks very close to me. I now live in Dover Pa and can travel 15 to 20 min. in 3 different directions to see very good sprint car racing at the very least twice a week and peak season more. Nothing like cooking on your grill on the porch, jumping in a car for a short drive and still get there before warm ups. It is very easy to get spoiled here and complain, when you need to stop yourself and realize how fortunate you are if you love sprint car racing. Been to the Nationals for vacation and love it, what a great place with a great atmosphere, can't wait to go back. Couldn't even begin to gage the greats I have seen on a regular basis in their prime, Weld, Opp, Smith, Allen, May brothers, Bobby Davis weekly, Wolfgang weekly, Sills, Haud and a host of others Weikert and Hamilton brought to the area. WoO multiple times a year even during the Kinser, Wolfgang, Swindell hayday. Point is I can easily see why Pa fans get the way they do we are very spoiled..That being said you are always going to run into the few that open their mouth too much or just to put their foot in it.

One thing I have always found interesting is I know people (fans) who have moved to Knoxville just because of the race track. I sat by an older lady at the late model nats one year and she had moved to Knoxville 4 or 5 years prior just because of the track. I can see car owners or drivers doing that but I am surprised that a fan would do that.

My old boss said that when he looked for a new job ( He lived in Ohio) That he looked all over central Iowa so he could be near Knoxville. He moved his whole family including some of his adult children and their spouses/children. He also bought season passes for him and his wife and pays for two extra seats at the Nationals so he isn't crowded. I would say he's a fan of Knoxville Raceway!

If you must live in Iowa. Knoxville or Okoboji topped my list. I chose Boji.
