Moore led Darland and Mellenberndt to complete lap one in the 8-lapper.  Darland and Mellenberndt made a sandwich of Moore down the backstretch on the second lap.  Moore came out with a flat right front tire.  Bacon shot by Mellenberndt for second on the third lap, and Windom moved into third with two to go.

Heat two (started): 1. Stockon 32 (6) 2. Stanbrough 81 (5) 3. Jarett Andretti 18 (2) 4. Simon 24 (4) / 5. Tony Rost 99 (3) 6. Billy Alley 75 (1) 7. Scott Comstock 41 (7)

Andretti took the early lead over Simon and Stockon.  Stanbrough joined the lead trio in a four-way battle.  Stockon would take second from Simon on lap three, and the lead from Andretti on lap five.  Stanbrough would make a last lap pass of Andretti for second.

Heat three (started): 1. Aaron Farney F15 (4) 2. Ballou 12 (6) 3. K. Thomas 17RW (5) 4. Kenny Potter 55 (2) / 5. Josh Stephens 09 (1) 6. Steve Thomas 20 (3) 7. Clyde Knipp 13 (7)

S. Thomas led Parkinson, Moore, Stephens, Schriever and Comstock back to green.  Parkinson would take the lead at that point and hold it the rest of the way despite several cautions.  Comstock tipped over after contact with Alley eight laps in.  Alley, in his first career non-wing start, gained momentum as the night went on and went from seventh to fourth in the late stages.

Stanbrough led Windom and Ballou early in the 30-lapper.  Darland was into third by the second lap.  Leary contacted the wall on lap six.  The restart saw Stanbrough ahead of Windom, Darland, Stockon and Hines.  Stanbrough slid across one and two, and Windom shot past for the lead.  He still held the point at the halfway point, ahead of Darland, Stockon, Hines and Bacon.  Lap 18 brought the final caution for a stopped Ballou, who changed his right rear and returned.  The race groove developed on the bottom for everyone and it was single-file until lapped traffic.  Darland, who won here a year ago, repeated when he snuck by Windom on lap 27.  K. Thomas and Bacon worked into the top five by Stockon late as well.

The 25-lapper went non-stop.  Horton took the lead early with Grossenbacher and a charging Bubak, who had father Rich turning the wrenches,  trailing him.  Grossenbacher rode the cushion around Horton to take the point, and Bubak followed on lap four, using the low side.  Bubak gave chase, reeling in the leader several times.  Benson was into third by lap seven.  The lead trio set a blistering pace.  Grossenbacher did a good job in traffic in taking the win.

good job 305 drivers!     If that race would not have gone green to checkered I don't think we would have seen a complete USAC feature.

Good show at The Bullring!
