NEXT WEST COAST SPRINT RACE: May 16 - Tulare, California – Thunderbowl Raceway

Facility nicely spruced up by the new management. Was told that the food concession will work itself out (it was =very= slow, but the prices were pretty much the same as before). $2.00 to park now, but with the economics of Saturday night racing the way it is now, the operator needs to pick up a little extra wherever he can to keep things rolling. The promoter plowed some serious investment into local advertising to pull a very good crowd for a non-wing show in central Cal. (KWS is the annual big deal at Santa Maria.) Erstwhile CRA contender Mike Kirby towed a long way to run into an unavoidable t-bone during his IMCA mods heat, but his daughter (?) got to run in the sport mods, at least.

Agreed with raj as far as inprovements. Was courious if that was same Kirby as recalled from SCRA.  Low car count but,all in all, pleased with what Im seeing at Doug Forts gem. Look like new clay added ( can't see retaining wall footings anymore ++) and facility is clean and kept. As this is 15 min. from home, I will make all touring sprint shows at SMS. Thanks to new managenent and wishibg them much success with the speedway.
