We will never collect any fans or tracks or cars if USCS keeps making idiotic decisions like the one they made today. Absolutely no reason to cancel tonight, it was colder last night than it will be tonight, it is beautiful out. Good job on losing another track for us Pete! We need to do something as racers together and get Pete Walton out of this sport all together.

Nope just wouldnt screw over all of the racers and fans and tracks. I have no greed, I am a true racer at heart and would lose money if thats what it took to get a fan base and racecars to come race with me.

Then get your checkbook out there Mr tmanzjr and give the USCS a nice 50 thousand dollars.  That way, as the headlining sponsor you should be included in the making of decsions.  Being's you are willing to lose money to get the fanbase and the cars to come this should be a non-issue for you.  Otherwise, shut your mouth and move on.

Maybe I'm just too old but sitting out in 40 degree temperatures isn't much fun anymore.  I'll still see my 30-35 races this year and sixty and seventy degrees makes them even more enjoyable.  Only have to wait two weeks and they're even closer.

Why dont you call the promoter of Toccoa speedway that is standing out side in a tshirt in beautiful weather with a prepared race track and cant even race his weekly show because Pete carried the insurance for this weekend and bailed on him last minute with just a text and will not even respond to him and tell me what kind of man Pete Walton is. If you still think he is a respectable buisness man than you can go do you know what to yourself too! Many teams drove a very long distance to race, if it rains thats one thing or if it is even actually freezing weather, but it is not. It was a bullcrap excuse and a horrible decision on Pete Walton's behalf. Any sponsor that has paid $50,000 to be associated with USCS I feel extremely sorry for them wasting there money...

I was there last night... And I was at the car wash this morning when I got the text that the show was canceled.  As soon as my dad and I saw the text, we looked at each other and said, "Its a money thing.  Pete must have lost his ass last night."

After we spoke those exact words, we loaded up and headed back to Charlotte, NC.

On our way home, we talked about everything that happened last night, and everything that happened this morning (and what was happening at that moment).

I'll admit in a heart beat right now, that the McLain's love Pete Walton and his family with all our heart.  Sprint car racing is our passion.  Its all we think about... Its all we talk about... Its all we care about...  If it wasn't for the Waltons, sprint car racing anywhere close to Charlotte wouldn't exist...

We also try to be as realistic as possible.  If Pete takes a risk like this and doesn't make a profit, or worse, loses money, then we expect him to pull the plug.  Hopefully, the USCS will learn from this situation and come back stronger.

I can go on and on about economics, but lots of folks will just never understand because they either dont have common financial sense or are just way too hard headed to care about anyone else other than themselves.

All I can tell you is that we are extremely thankful for the USCS because without them, dad and I couldnt realise out dream of racing sprint cars...

If you care to debate the situation, we'll be at Carolina Speedway in two weeks.  I'll offer you fried chicken from South 21 and orange Gatorade... Until then, have a great weekend!

I think that there have been some insightful posts on this topic.   A die hard fan admits that he will no longer go battle the cold to watch a race.  (I am in the same camp)   And a driver that was at the event commented on how light the gate was the night before.

I have said it many times before, there is not a conspiracy theory in racing.   It is all about the money.   If the promoter took a bath on the first night, and was concerned that he was going to take another bath on the second night, it makes sense to cancel the show.    While some may be upset that they lost a night of racing, they should look at the big picture.   There have been tracks/series that have tried to battle it out at the begining of the season only to lose too much money and have to cancel the entire season.

I will also admit that I think that many promoters are getting too aggressive with the early season shows.   I know that there is pent up demand, but the weather seems to be too big of a risk.

Pete Walton is in no way the reason for sprint car racing in any area...sprint car racers are the reason for sprint car racing and until we all get together and work together so we can actually race like it is meant to be and not worry about our own greed then we will never succeed. You will not see us at Carolina, you will see us in Ohio and Pennsylvania where promoters understand what true sprint car racing is...bring back ASCS in the south or get together with the boys down in Florida is the only way it will succeed...all the USCS has done is destroy the chances of us going to many tracks in this area because of his poorly managed shows and horrible buisness management like he showed this weekend. If you disagree with any of my statements that is uour opinion, but as a man who has raced at every level of this sport all across the country and have seen true promoters who love this sport I can never live with myself to agree with the decisions that Pete Walton has made in the past and this weekend...

He did not take a bath in any way...there were enough minin sprints there to pay for the entire show! Which many of them traveled a great distance to get there on top of the sprint cars that were there. I will repeat... you can not screw over th fans, racers and tracks and be successful. If you disagree with that you will fade away just like USCS is..!

Tmanzjr... each post you submit only shows your ignorance...

Pete Walton is the only reason we have sprints in the south.  ASCS was an embarrassment in the South (Kinda sounds like they are turning into an embarrassment all across the country from the sounds of this forum.)

Thats fine that you wont be at Carolina and Lancaster.  It'll be standing room only, so there wont be any room for you anyways.

I worked for who I consider the best promoter in dirt track racing, Bob Sargent (multiple time race promoter of the year), helped promote with Roger Slack, watched Hahn's crash and burn in the South, and have lunch with a certain Outlaw CEO on a weekly basis.  There is no one in the world that works harder than Pete when it comes to promoting sprint car racing.

We (the USCS, Terry Gray, Morgan Turpen, local racers) busted our ass promoting this weekends races.  It didnt workout financially.  We'll go home and come up with another game plan.

In two weeks, we'll be at Carolina Speedway and Lancaster Speedway.  Both tracks will witness massives crowds and big time profits.  Both tracks will beg for Pete to bring his show back next year.  Both tracks will be thankful Pete made them a few dollars.

McLain Motorsports will be thankful we'll get to drive winged sprints cars in front of family, friends, and an assload of fans!

Lets put aside any of us that traveled to race at Toccoa, lets take a minute to think about the local racers that work in there shop until midnight and save every penny getting ready to race and their kids were excited to see their daddy race on Saturday night and it couldn't happen because of some greedy ass promoter pulled the plug on them last minute for absolutely no good reason. Explain to me why that is okay...

Dude... again you are showing your ignorance... Just stop... stop please... please stop.  Hopefully those dads are smart enough to explain to their kids that life just doesn't go as planned sometimes.  I'm kinda thinking your dad didnt explain that to you unfortunately.

You just showed your ignorance with every word you just wrote, it hasn't been standing room only for a USCS race in years and if you were observant enough to realize that half the crowd leaves after the late models run because we cant get the field pushed offed in a timely matter because of lack of push trucks and organization on how to run a proper sprint car race. The fact that he allows anybody to run what they want and not enforce any rules is absolutely ridiculous. If you would like tou keep racing with the Terry Gray show and go down with them thats your choice, if you truly love this sport and understand it you will be part of the solution...enjoy your lunchs with your CEO, maybe he can help. Probably the most ignorant comment of them all...have a good evening!

Haha...good one. No worries I will be racing, dont worry about that. Just at a place that appreciates and understands racing. Guess I will have to move if nobody can work together, enjoy wasting your time and money to support such a great promoter as you say he is. Peace...

I love life, just truly hate ignorant, selfish, greedy people. You can stand up for what you believe in, I respect that, I am just trying to open people's eyes to what has been going on for a long time now. We have been losing tracks and fans at a dramatic rate and if you are to close to Pete to be blind to that I am sorry for you. All I know is I would much rather be sprint car racing tonight like we should be than sitting here typing shit at your ignorant ass. I am done, time to move on. Just trying yo open everyone's eyes, hopefully everybody wakes up soon!

Congradulation, you're on the pole the next race and can race 200 lbs underweight. It's Pete's way of honoring loyalty of his racers.
