As indicated in the "tweet section" on Hoseheads main page--this morning Monday, March 23rd Earl Baltes passed away. Earl was a very unique dirt race track developer, owner, and most importantly PROMOTER. In 1994 Earl was a proud member of the fifth class of inductees into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame. In my mind he will probably be remembered most for being one of the first promoters to offer big time purses for sprint car and dirt late model racing. His big time races: "Kings Royal", "Four Crown", "The Dream" and the "World 100" live on annualy. Plus who can forget his: "Historical Big One", "Mopar Million" and his Million to Win race for dirt late models. Rest in Peace Earl and keep the hat brim turned up.

My God bless Mr. Baltes
He always had time & a good word for everyone as he made his rounds through the stands.
Eldora is a very special place, & with Smoke running things now I expect it will continue to be .
Thank you Mr. Baltes, my Eldora memories will never fade.

Find that "brim-up" hat he wore, while grading and working on the track. Send it to The Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, IA. to be permanently diplayed. Iconic! R.I.P. E-Mods.

RIP Earl, you were one of the greats in our sport & did so much for dirt racing in general. I also agree that your upturned brim hat should be enshrined in The Hall of Fame.

One of the best Knoxville banquets was with Earl as the guest speaker. Great Guy.
