**BREAKING NEWS: LoneStar Points Opener SUNDAY MARCH 29th - 2PM!**
Kilgore TX (3/20/15) by DarinShort.com. You know the expression 'when it rains it pours', well, with the crazy spring weather, LoneStar Speedway's (LSS) points opener (originally rained out on March 14) will now take place on SUNDAY, MARCH 29th at 2PM.
LoneStar Speedway needs every scheduled points event to be able to pay out the large points fund to its competitors...as there are only 12 full LSS points race weekends in 2015...and there are lots of drivers begging us to get a race in. So we are.
After viewing area track schedules - coupled with the long range forecast - it currently shows that racing next Sunday should be able to happen. The only problem would be if the current weather forecast changes. It's showing 73 degrees and partly cloudy now.
And if you are a LSS points driver and can't make this event due to the short notice, don't sweat it. Please remember that you only have to race at 75% of our completed points events to still be eligible for the points funds and awards. As far as the track is concerned, only having 12 weekends of racing means we have to come up with the most equitable solutions when a rainout does occur.
Since this is a quick turnaround event, lets jump right in to the specifics for SUNDAY, MARCH 29th:
1. This will be a full paying, full points event for the Modifieds ($1,000/win and $100/start), Limited Modifieds ($500/win) and Factory Stocks ($300/win). As in 2014, non-qualifier money will be awarded to any team not making their feature race: Modifieds $50, Limited Modifieds $30 and Factory Stocks $20.
1a. The Beginner Factory Stocks will round out the racing action with a feature race for their division.
2. Pits open by Noon on Sunday March 29th, Grandstands open at 1PM, Draw Cut-off at 1:30PM, Drivers Meeting at 1:45PM and Hot Laps at 2PM. Racing to follow immediately. We expect this event to conclude easily by 5:30-6pm, so everyone can get home at an early hour.
3. Adult grandstand tickets are $12, Kids 6-11 are $5; while Ages 5 and under are free with Adult admission. Seniors 65+ and active Military (with ID) are $10. All pit passes for all ages are $30. Upgrade any ticket to the Reserved Section (bucket seats) for $5 per person. No outside food/drink coolers are allowed inside, a full selection of economically priced food concessions, including beer, are available
4. Full payback and rules for each division are posted at the track website, http://www.LoneStarSpeedway.com
2015 rules in all divisions are posted at the track website, drivers please make sure to review them prior to your arrival at the track on race night.
As in the past several years, LSS offers a fantastic awards program to drivers that compete in at least 75% of the completed LSS points events - with a minimum of $10,000 cash being distributed to top performing drivers in each of the LSS points divisions. Over $13,000 was paid out in 2013 and again in 2014, with all nightly 50/50 drawing funds and driver registration fees adding to the points fund. There are only full points 12 weekends of racing on the 2015 LSS schedule, which makes plenty of time for drivers to visit other tracks, go on family vacations; etc., yet still compete for a sizable points fund championship.
Please make plans now to join us on Sunday, March 29th at 2pm, as the 2015 LoneStar Speedway point's season kicks off - even though Mother Nature tried to put a dent in that plan last weekend!

As of 3/22, the current forecast at race time on Sunday, March 29th at LoneStar Speedway is sunny and 73 degrees.
Hopefully that forecast trend holds true. Dry conditions are also being shown for Friday and Saturday leading up to the event.
