Allissa Geving in the #3x captured her 2nd 360 winged sprint car race at Petaluma Speedway Saturday night 8/25/7 besting a 22 car field. Geving started the main event 3rd and took the lead on lap 7 with a strong inside move in turn 2 over 3rd starting Shawn Arriga (#56). Geving never looked back over the next 18 circuits to capture the victory. Arriaga finished 2nd to secure the 2007 Petaluma track championship over the #6c of Jeff Parady by a mere 5 points.

22 cars entered, final 360 winged points race - 2007

Weather: cool, high fog, breezy

Track was quick in qualifying as 11 sprinters broke into the 12 second bracket led by the #43 of Bradley Terrell - 12.611. The #57 of Shabe Golobic timed in 2nd quick followed by #4 of Adam Mccarthy, #7y of StanYockey, and #3x of Geving rounded out the top 5. Visitors tonight inlcuded Yockey of Fresno, Golobic of Fremont, and Calistoga's Mike Benson in the familiar #77.

HEAT 1 - finish,car#, name,(started) - 6 laps, 6 cars

1. #6c, Parady(2) 2. #7y, Yockey(4) 3. #77, Benson(3) 4. #43, Terrell(6) 5. #14, Scott Merrel(1) 6. #7p, Paul Pedrocelli, Jr.(5) - Parady quickly jumped to the lead from his outside row starting spot. Yockey grabbed 2nd on the opening lap with a turn 4 inside move on the #14 of Merrel. The #77 of Benson dives under Merrel in turn 3 on lap 3 to move into 3rd. Terrell running 5th is doing everything he can to get by Merrell and finally succeeds with the same low move through turn 3 on the fnal lap to nail down 4th at the checkers. Merrel finishes 5th and the rookie Pedrocelli, Jr in the #7p is never a factor and comes in 6th.

HEAT 2 - finish, car#, name (started) 6 laps, 6 cars

1. #35, Rickey Wright, Jr. (2) 2. #3x, Geving (5) 3. #57, Golobic (6) 4. #19, Art McCarthy (4) 5. #2, Mike Learn (3) 6. #7b, Brett Bjork (1) - Wright, Jr. quickly to the lead from the outside front row followed by the #7b of Bjork. The #19 of McCarthy lays back at the start and moves into 3rd at the flagstand ahead of the #2 of Learn. Officals let the start go. McCarthy takes the 2nd spot from Bjork with a turn 2, lap 2 pass. Geving quickly follows into 3rd as Bjork is fading. One lap later and it is Golobic's turn to push Bjork further into the field Bjork stops at the top of turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Bjork is refired and moves to the rear. Restart lap 4 is #35, #19, #3x, #57, #2, 7b. McCarthy tries a low move on Wright right away in turn 1 and 2, but Wright holds him off getting a good bite on the high side. The #3x of Geving storms into turn 3 and bangs wheel with McCarthy taking over the 2nd spot. Golobic takes 3rd with nice pass of McCarthy on lap 5 to secure the finish.

HEAT 3 - finish, car#, name (started) 6 lpas, 5 cars

1. #4, Adam McCarthy(3) 2. #96, Arvo Backholm (1) 3. #56F, Fred Arriaga (2) 4. #7r, Nicholas Ringo(5) 5. #25B, Dustin Baxter(4-DNF) - This time the pole starter grabs the lead as the #96 of Backholm powers through 1 and 2 to take the lead down the backstretch. The #4 of Ad. McCarthy follows suit to take 2nd from F. Arriaga. #96 Backholm bicycles in turn 2 on lap and gives up the lead to Ad. McCarthy. Backholm saves his sprinter and keeps the 2nd spot. Ad. McCarthy pulls away to take the win. The #25B of Baxter gives up the 4th spot on the last lpa spinning into the turn 4 infiield and does not finish.

HEAT 4 - finish, car#, name(started) 6 laps, 5 cars

1. #7, Nick Ringo, Jr.(2) 2.#48k, Kirk Simpson(5) 3. #56, Shawn Arriaga(4) 4. #29, Cameron Mendes(1) 5. #48, Clint Simpson(5) - Ringo to the lead followed by the #29 of Mendes. The #48 of rookie Clint Simpson is running the bottom and falling way back trying ot get some seat time. Lap 3 and Mendes loops it in the middle of 3 and 4 to bring out the yellow. He restarts at the tail. Restart - #7,#48k,#56, #48, #29 - Simpson is applying all kinds of pressure on Ringo for the lead. Ringo runs the low side preventing the Simpson pass. Arriaga is watching intently just behind in 3rd. Mendes joins the fray and they are running nose to tail. Ringo holds off all challenges to take the checkered flag with a strong run.

A-Main - 22 cars - 8 inversion - finish, car #, name(started) - Parady now has a 5 point lead on Arriaga by virute of his 3 point lead going in and his heat win worth 3 points. Arriaga 3rd in his heat collected a single marker.

Arriaga(14-DNF) 18. #25B, Baxter(17-DNF) 19. #19, Art McCarthy(9-DNF) 20. #7, Ringo, Jr.(15-DNF) 21. #2, Learn(19-DNF) 22. #57, Golobic(7-DNF) - Benson grabs the intial lead from the pole followed by the #56 of Arriaga as the front row leads the race. Geving and Yockey are battling for the 3rd spot down the backstretch. Wild melee as 3rd row starter Ad. McCarthy loops it in 4. Golobic has nowhere to go and clips McCarthy breaking off the front end of the #57 sprinter. The #96 of Backholm also stops trying to avoid the 2 parked sprinters. McCarthy and Backholm are refired and tag the rear. Golobic is done for the eveining after looking fast all night and fresh back from his Indiana swing and his recent non wing win at Lawrenceburg, IN Speedway. Complete restart. This start sees the #56 of Arriaga grab the intial lead over Benson as we get a lap in. Geving grabs 2nd from Benson at the flagstand to start lap 2 as the #77 wheel stands and loses speed. Yockey gets by Benson withn an outside move in turn 1 on lap 3, but Backholm loops in the middle of 3 and 4 to bring out the yellow. Yockey's pass is negated by the yellow. Restart -56,3x,77,7y,48k,43,6c,29,35,19,56F,14,7b,4,25B,7,48,2,7r,96,7p - The #43 of Terrell is the one on the move after we get going green again passing Simpson, Yocley, and Benson over the next 3 laps.Wright, Jr. begins to lose his right side top wing panel. Arriaga still leading Geving as we get to lap 7. Geving hammers down into turn 1 and swoops under Arriaga to take the lead. As the leaders beign to navigate lapped traffic on lap 8, the #19 of Art McCarthy and #29 of Mendes both spin high in turn 4 for another yellow. Both would restart. Wright, Jr. to the pits and comes back for the green minus more right side top wing panel. Restart sees Terrell now pressuring Arriaga for the 2nd spot as Geving leads. Yelllow on lap 10 for Wright, Jr. spinning in front of the flagstand. Wing really looks ugly now but he continues. Next restart sees Terrell get out of shape and drop a couple of spots back to 5th. Benson and Simpson are the beneficiaries and move up. Lap 15 and the #3x of Geving is now in heavy traffice with Arriaga still chasing. Parady just cracking the top 10 as he is doing all he can to pass cars and close the gap between himself and Arriaga. Geving is slicing and dicing through slower cars and putting some distance now between herself and Arriaga. Yellow on lap 20 for the #25B of Baxter and the #19 of Art McCarthy who collide in turn 3. Front end damage on both sprinters as they go to the pits on the hook. Geving leads them down to the restart and Arriaga tries a loe side pass in 1 and 2 but cannot get by. The #6c of Parady is now up to 7th and doing all he can to get by #43 of Terrell as his championship hopes fade. Red on lap 23 for the #56F of F. Arriaga who flips all alone in turn 4. Driver is OK, but done for the night. Restart lap 22 and Geving runs the low line through 1 and 2 and stretchers her lead. Terrel takes 5th from Simpson on lap 23. Geving leads them to the checkers to take her 2nd win at Petaluma.

Hard Chargers - The #14 of Merrel 18th to 8th and the #7b of Bjork 21st to 11th. Also, Adam McCarthy recovered from a lap 1 incident that sent him to the rear to finish 9th.

Next race at Petaluma is the "run what ya brung" 360 non wing sprint open show this coming Saturday night September 1 - $2,500 to win.

It's been a good weekend for my favorites, with Alissa's win last night at Petaluma, and Forsberg's strong showings at Chico and Placerville...congrats!
