Hawker thanks for the kind words!

Our Warrior Safety Crew has several members that are passionate and dedicated to to make sure the drivers have a safe night of racing.

A couple weeks ago we attended a Motorsports Safety Class in Brandon, SD hosted by Jay Masur with Med-Star Ambulance Safety Crew.  There were about 80 people in attendance.....  we had promotors, track owners, drivers, former drivers, track workers, safety crews, chassis  manufacturers, and insurance representative.  All were there for the same reason "How can we make Motorsports Safety better for the drivers each night they race".

I want to thank Med-Star Safety Crew and Knoxville Raceway Safety Crew for their high quality of protection at their events.  There are other safety crews that do a good job as well, but I have been to events that these crews have worked and they are top notch.

It's  time for us to take Motorsports Safety to the next level.  It is long over due folks.  Some tracks are doing a good job, but there are several that are not.  Just because something hasn't happened doesn't mean it won't happen.  Safety crews need to be prepared and trained to handle what ever event they are standing by at.

We can not keep turning our heads on this issue or putting our heads in the sand.........

We all need to work together to make it better.  We are not going too fix this over night..... it's going to take so time, but if we never start we will never fix the problem.  We have some really great people working on safety crews around the country, the problem is they do not have the proper equipment or training to handle to events their standing by at.

I'm willing to do my part .............. who's on board to help?

We must work to get all safety crews equipped and trained to handle any event they stand-by at.

Jerry Jenkins

These are the type of meetings every track in the country should have at least once a year.

Keep up the good work Jerry and crew.

The quality (or lack of quality) of safety crews is usually a topic of discussion a few times per year in the sprint car community.  Many of us in the sprint car community have very little control of car design, drivers' safety equipment, etc.  The rules and nature of competition often steer car design and those aspects of safety.

However, many of us do have the ability to demand a high quality, trained, and appropiately staffed safety crew at our events.  This responsibility lies with all people in the sport.  I commend the tracks that provide a high quality safety crew.  Not all tracks provide the level of response needed specifically for sprint cars.  There are series and promoters that have recognized the need for a safety crew to accompany the series on tour.  These folks should also be commended.   The NHRA and it's Safety Safari were pioneers of the traveling safety crew.  Its great to see this concept emulated with the sprint car world.

Crashes are going to happen.   The response after the crash is critical to the well being of the driver involved.  The barometer for a quality safety crew in our sport seems to be how quickly they arrive at the scene of the incident.  While that is a very important component of the response, there is a lot more that goes into providing high quality fire and EMS services.  I commend Jerry for taking his time to spread the word and educate the people in our sport.  I encourage everyone to attend this class and subsequent events.  I'm sure this won't be the last one...

Jerry-Will there be more cars there to discuss safety on than sprint cars, or is the seminaar sprint car specific?  Our safety crew also has to deal with modifieds and late models as our experience is with sprint cars.  The additional discussion on those type of cars would be beneficial.

This is a great event for those responsible for driver safety at any and all race tracks.  I applaud Jerry and staff for putting this on.  Every driver should feel more comfortable going to a race track knowing they have well trained safety workers that may have to take care of them.

  3. Mud Truck—this is a Super Stock truck without nitrous Oxide but still is required to have at least 4 point harness and cage.
  4. Motor Cross—A bike and side by side vehicle

this is a very important topic and one that all that can make it to St Louis really should.....we continually make a change, or react only after a bad situation....there are ways to head some of those things off...this is the type of event that can train your poeple to deal with a situation, it's not if, it's when. We all have had a wake up call at our track, some of us skate by, some of us havn't....unfortunatly I don't have a track here in OKC anymore, but there is so much to gain here I would be there if at all possible....thx Jerry for making this available to all of us....see you at the races.

Another great opportunity for competitors and sanctioning bodies to learn about their personal safety.

ABOUT MSEF

WHAT WE DO

We educate motorsports competitors with the knowledge they need to participate for a lifetime.

OUR STORY

Why MSEF Began

Our livelihood, our community, and our families are all deeply ingrained in the motorsports industry. For decades we have considered it a privilege to work alongside teams to bring innovative solutions to racing through our businesses. And, as we considered what our legacy would be, we heard our colleagues calling for an answer to the decades-old question: how do we limit injuries and death in the sport we all love? We believe that creating an industry-wide standard for safety education is the right solution.

Our team has the experience, knowledge, and drive to champion education safety in the racing community. But, we can’t do this alone. We are thankful that our friends across the industry have been so willing to collaborate with us to start this movement. The time is right to take action.

We want all racers to live to race again and again so they can pass down their passion for racing to the next generation. Will you join us?

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Right now competitors have three options to learn to compete safely: a rulebook (which states the minimum requirements to race), other racers (the consistency and quality of information breaks down quickly), or experience (the most dangerous way to learn about safety in motorsports is by living through a crash).

At the Motorsports Safety Education Foundation, we believe there is a better way. By providing the latest knowledge in an easy-to-use format, we give competitors the education they need to compete safer.

The exception is not acceptable.

Crashes are often the exception—but they happen. In the last several years, there have been more than 520 deaths in motorsports. One death is unacceptable. We don’t have to accept that life-threatening injuries are inevitable. With the advances in technology and the lessons learned from recent tragedies, we now have a better understanding of safety than ever before. Together we can make sure that every competitor knows what equipment is available and how it is intended to work, so we can reduce life-threatening injuries and ensure that the sports we love continue to succeed.

Changing a culture trumps making money.

If we could promote safety without collecting a dime, we would. But the reality is, creating world-class education tools and collaborating with experts costs money. We invest that money into collecting the best knowledge out there—and use it to fuel education and change. We refuse to promote or take advertising dollars from any manufacturer. And, no one on our board benefits from the sale of safety equipment.

This is awesome that Jerry and the guys have set this up and are doing this, as promoters and track owners we should all be paying attention and doing this in house as well with all of our drivers!! Jerry, Billy and all of their crew is definiatley top notch and we are very lucky to have them at several of our events each year. The burden of everyones saftey ultimatley falls on us, and I'm glad to see more attention finally being given to this! Thanks Jerry, Billy and everyone involved in putting this on!
