I don't know how ? but there has to be a way to get these tire costs down. The former URC had the price down but now they are back up again . The Price was 159.00 for I believe American tires . I think teams should negotiate there own deals , as it seems to me the costs were less then these tire deals per sanctioning groups . I still like open tire rules , but i know people here will disagree with me .

In the open tire rule days the fast teams got tires for free or real cheap, the tire companies assumed everyone would buy the brand the fast guys used. The cost of those given away tires need to be covered so the slower, low budget guys paid more. The teams with the big sponsors & money got free tires and the low buck teams had to pay for thiers. Made the gap between haves & have nots wider. Now everyone has the same tire to run and they all pay the same price.

The up side to an open tire rule is that there is more pressure put on Hoosier to make a quality product like in years past now days they just pay off the tracks and sanctioning bodies and those of us that have to use there product are left having to buy new rubber every race because the H15 Hoosiers seal over so bad you can't run them again so where is the cost savings for the local racers . Also the teams that can afford the new tires are still getting free tires from Hoosier or as I call them ( hoser). We need to be able to run the brand you prefer just designate compounds

Not a marketing genius for sure, but what is the point of giving someone free tires that everyone has to use?

if tires are "about the same price" they were 15 years ago, perhaps its time to start whopping up on someone else for the cost of racing?

the cost that changed the most in the last 15 years is the COST of a 360 engine!

Tire costs are not the main cost problem in sprint car racing I believe the motor costs are to blame a little more than tires.
