Just wondering if someone can share the race formats, inversions, and points systems used for Calistoga's two day program and Chico's three day show.
This will be our first year to attend both events in their entirity and it would be great to know "how things work".
Thanks. Lisa

Well Calistoga won't have a point format because the Outlaws don't lock anybody into the second night's program of a 2 day show. They'll run qualifying both night's and winner of the second night is the Harvest Classic champion. Both night's are seperate shows.
Heat races at Calistoga will have an invert of four just like all Outlaw shows do now. It'll probably be invert four take six if there's only three heat races. It pretty much makes the heat races nothing more than hot lap sessions with all the fast guys already in transfer spots before the green flag is out, but with the top two going into the dash now, maybe it'll make for more interesting heats at Calistoga. The inversion for the heats is 12 if there are 3 heats and 16 if there are four heats.
Gold Cup splits the fields over Thursday and Friday. Drivers get points for qualifying, heat races and main events. The dashes don't pay points. After Friday night all points are tallied and then Saturday's line ups are lined up by the points accumulated from the first two night's. Nothing too complicated at all. I think the heats should really good because I have a feeling some of our locals can qualify within the inversion.

Thanks for the information. Hope you don't mind just a few more questions...
What are the inversions for the heat races at Gold Cup? How do they set the line ups for the main events on the preliminary nights? Are the Saturday night races lined up "straight up" by points? And, my last question (for now...), is Gold Cup run by "Outlaw Rules" with lapped cars being removed and sent to the back during cautions?

The heat inversion at the Gold Cup should be the standard invert four with the top two in each heat going into the dash. The two fastest cars from qualifying that don't finish in the top two during the heats also move into the dash. All the drivers that finished in the top two in the heats will re-draw for their starting position in the dash. The two fastest qualifiers that didn't finish in the top two of their heats will tag the rear of the dash.
The dash will determine the starting line-up for the prelim main events at Gold Cup and the dash will set the line-up for both night's at Calistoga. The dash will feature 10 cars and the the line-up behind it will be set based on qualifying times.
Saturday night at Gold Cup is lined up straight up by points and yes the lap cars will be moving to the back. This will make for some interesting racing at Chico.

Hi Gary
Thanks a lot for the information! Glad someone thought to ask. I printed it off and will have it so I can attempt to figure the lineups myself! You are a wealth of information, appreciate it.
See you at Gold Cup, Evan will qualify on Friday night. Because of school we will leave when he is out at 2:20 on Thurs.

No problem at all Linda.
I know that John told me last month that he wanted to make the main event at Gold Cup. With the way Evan has taken to Chico the last few times he's been there, I have no doubt that making the A-main on Saturday can be accomplished. It's been great watching him become more comfortable at Chico. Now hopefully some luck will follow along!
