Couldn't help but notice a few things on the POWRi schedule.  They scheduled a race on Aug. 1 at Pontoon Beach and Silver Crown is at Belleville, KS on July 31 which means POWRi has scheduled a race on top of the Belleville Midget Nationals.  They've also scheduled a race on Sept. 26th which is the same date as Eldora triple crown.  Guess USAC and POWRi aren't cozy any longer?

Most POWRi teams/drivers won't run big 1/2 mile tracks.. To hard on the engines

POWRi has a long history of booking against other shows.   It also seems POWRi and USAC have on on again/offf again marriage.   A true co-dependent situation if I have ever seen one.   Seems like this year they are off again.    Which is sad because last year it was nice for them and USAC to try to get along.

Wishful thinking!

Great opportunity for racing fans to make a meaningful stop on the way to the Knoxville Nationals. Come to Pevely for the Ironman on Friday and Saturday rather than go to Iowa to watch the Limited formerly illegal heads now legal nationals. <img src=/images/Main/smile_100x100.gif border=0 alt=Smile>Smile

Look at the 2014 Belleville and 4 crown midget results, and tell me how many POWRi "regulars" were there. I counted a couple in each event, that were regular point goers in POWRi. There was no POWRi races scheduled this year on those dates.

I dont think POWRi scheduling against races hundreds of miles away is going to make any big difference in the respective car counts.

If a race fan was so inclined,on Belleville Midget Nationals weekend they could do that, and then go to Little Belleville (Illinois) the following night!

" A true co-dependent situation if I have ever seen one."

If you look at the 2014 point standings, eleven of the top 20 in each series are in the top 20 of the other series.

"Power I hasn't been to Belleville in years."

As a sanctioning body for the race, no, but the POWRi drivers have been there.  Zach Daum, the 2014 POWRi champion finished second last year.

With the poor sight lines at Osky you'd only have the midgets visible for half a lap. Put them at Boone, Marshalltown, Stuart or Tipton and we have something.

Big decision there....head to I-55 for an All-Star show or head to Knoxville for a huge field of 360's and 410's.

Pretty sure the Ironman is an Outlaw show. Either way, midgets at Pevely would be a sight to see.

Me thinks tojo has been in the sake a little too much.  The only thing All-Star about the Ironman show is that they are a co-sanction which means that their drivers, if there are any left by then, can earn All-Star points.  The Ironman will beat the best of the best.  After all, the Knoxville Nationals winner for at least the last thity years has been a World of Outlaws regular with the exception of one year.  In 2009 Tim Shaffer was the winner and he also was the All-Stars champion that year.  The field of 360's better be huge in Knoxville this year because it may be the last for the Illegal Heads Now Legal Limited Championship.  As far as the 410's, I will always choose quality over quantity.  Plus, having seen midgets run on the high banks of I-55 in the past, I must say this will be a really great show.

If you can do it, I would go to Knoxville Thurs for the 360 Nationals qualifying night, head to I-55 for WoO and midgets on the high banks Fri-Sat, and then back to Knoxville Sunday for the Cappy Classic.  The only time 410s run in those 4 days at Knoxville is Sunday.  Saturday at Knoxville is just 360 Nationals features (fast guys up front) and 305s... most overrated and overpriced show on the schedule IMO.  Thurs-Fri qualifying nights at 360 Nationals is pretty good though.

I must have been confused, but I could have sworn that huge field of 40+ 410's have turned into 24 305's.

Weather-permitting, I am headed to Pevely.

Midgets & Ironman vs. 360 champinship at Knoxville?

Sounds like a "win/win"!. Our cup runneth over... can't lose either way

I've never been to Pevely, sounds very tempting. I was gonna ask what makes it so special, then I saw "high banks".... is that it, super fast?
