Well I bought a plane ticket to go to Cocopah in real life, & I'm far from rich. TV or computers just don't compare.
All the PPV I've tried constantly screws up anyway....

I agree the prices are too high. Therefore , I don't buy them anymore. I used to spend $200 or so a year for various PPV's. Now at these prices I don'y buy any. I'd think they would do better by lowering the prices to a level where many more would tend to subscribe because it's at a value.

I wonder if Western Springs have got something figured out ? They announced the other night that they had 21000 people online watching. They charge $30 for the whole season. I bought it even though It is on from midnight to about 4:30 Am beside being affordable the production value is fantastic with multiple camera angles mutliple announcers pitside interviews and oh yea some fantastic entertaining racing !

Tim.... I am sure you are well aware of this but I have to say it anyway....
WESTERN SPRINGS HAS A LOT OF STUFF FIGURED OUT... Almost everything....
They get 5 digit numbers of fans at many weekly shows. They get upwards of and over 20,000 butts in the seats and on the hillside for special events. These numbers are in spite of the fact (or maybe due to the fact) that they have not only a PPV season ticket for 30 bucks but also a weekly TV show that airs many of their races.
Full fields of midgets every race...full fields of their mini sprint and junior sprint type classes... nearly full fields of winged sprintcars (always 16 or more, which is almost too many to start in one feature on that track)...that's 2 premier classes and multiple entry level classes all with full fields every night. The track appears to be hell on equipment but puts on some great racing in each class and no matter how much stuff gets torn up there's always plenty of cars the next week.
I would have to say Western Springs has quite a bit figured out.
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

do they show advertisements or commercials during the PPV, cause at $25-30 there should be none, but i'd accept advertisements/commercials during breaks in the racing action IF the PPV price was cheaper

Its $100 to go to a NFL game. Do they charge $100 a game on the Sunday ticket? Make the PPV $15 get your numbers up and sell advertisement. Run it like a business!

Does anyone remember when if you didn't go to the race you didn't find out who won until the following Thursday when the racing papers arrived in the mail?

Got Winter Heat for $99.95 before Dec. 15th. Went half with a friend which is $10 per night each. A third person would make it $33 and change each for all five nights. Very reasonable.

Works great for you. What about people that don't have any friends?

??? Hey smartass, I think that is the message everyone is trying to get across-we do have the choice and we are choosing not to. I'm not going to pay for it.
To go a little farther, not only do we have the right to express our opinion, (1st Amendment--look it up) I feel the folks supplying the PPV might want to know where the threshold is for actually getting fans to actually pay for races.
My threshold is about $10. If above that, I won't watch. (my choice--like you said) Maybe they should put out a suggestion box. Seems like there are a ton of folks on this site that would pay for $10 PPV.

Here's a solution to the problem--Pay per view price is subject to your proximity to the track. For example--if you are within a 100 mile radius of an event, the PPV cost can be the $25-30. If you are outside of that radius, the price should go down dramatically. I think a $30 PPV price is bad marketing for someone outside of driving distance of an event. They should do some studies (assuming they haven't?) and find a price that would generate the most revenue. I know a lot of people that would pay $4.99 to see an event across the country. This serves two purposes. 1--it creates revenue on the spot. 2--it creates and builds the fan base of your sport. With this increase would come increasing popularity and with this comes the justification for higher PPV costs.
For example--i refuse to pay the $300 (or whatever it costs now) for NFL ticket. However, if there was a better game on Sunday at 3:00 than the one they are showing, I would gladly pay a small fee to watch the game. Sounds like additional revenue, doesn't it? I'm lost as to why all of these products price the average consumer right out of purchasing them.
To sum up--I agree with you. If the price were much, much lower, I would likely pay for a few events each year. As it stands, I refuse to pay for any. Not worth it. I will wait for a race to come to my area to spend that kind of money. $30 is only worth it if I get to smell the fuel and rubber!

Good points. Henry Ford figured out a century ago that if cars were affordable & he paid workers enough to buy their own products, he could sell more cars & make more $$. Changed the world
I would buy PPV if it cost less & WORKED RIGHT. As it stands, I tried it twice & it was a waste
Where is Western Springs anyway?

I bought last nights race.... The racing itself was great! But as far as PPV it was high on price end and low on the quality end. Buffered off and on all night, didnt see most of the 2nd heat. No direct mic to the PPV, they where depending on the cameras to pick up the PA system. No replays....... Dirtvision and TheCushion are far superior products. Either way I was happy I saw the race, just feel for the price I should have got a little more.

I do actually know that-just pisses me off when some jack wagon thinks everyone should suck it up and remain silent on every issue. All anyone on here was doing was venting their frustration about the price of a product-mostly because they are losing paying customers because of a price that is very out of balance with the product received.
I stand corrected--used the wrong situation for that argument.

I agree you have the right to say whatever you want AND SO DO I !!!!! So go ahead and call me a Jack wagon LOL, (that really hurt and put me in my place) . Im sure this is the first place the Racin Boyz will check for feedback on there PPV.....NOT, judging by the number of people who took screen shots and posted their TV's on twitter, they had plenty of fans pony up the BIG BUCKS to watch the race, they dont need your $10 bucks. I never said you had to suck it up, I said dont buy it if you cant afford it or you think its too much money. I personaly get sick of people bitching about the cost of products and acting like someone is forcing them to buy them. I think $35 dollars is too much for a steak at a local restaurant, I dont complain to the owner or get on social media and bitch about it, I simply dont eat there. Bottom line is any PPV provider has the right to charge as much as they want, and as long as people are willing to pay, no amount of whining and complaining on this board is gonna change it. The only way to get them to lower the price is when people refuse to purchase it. So use your 1st amendment right and whine about the price all you want. Sorry I upset you with a dose of truth and logic, now put your hand back in your pocket and quit asking for a discount, if you want to play you have to pay like the rest of us did to watch the PPV.

When they figure out a way to let ME control which cars or battles I watch, let me toggle between the cameras, give me the thump in the chest 900HP provides when it screams by and a way to transfer the smell of burning methanol through my computer...all while guaranteeing no skips, glitches, buffering, poor signal quality or stream overload I will gladly pay 30 bucks for online PPV of at least 1-2 races per week.... until then I won't be spending any more than 5-10 bucks to watch any online PPV...with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 crown jewel events that won't have any TV coverage. No way should PPV cost even half as much as a grandstand ticket costs, especially for people who absolutely logistically could not attend a particular race.
For 30 bucks I can play 18 holes of golf in real life or on a simulator, pay my internet bill for the whole month, pay for 3 months of a TV package upgrade, etc etc etc. Hard to justify spending that amount for a total of 45 minutes of on track action and 2 hours worth of downtime of a sprintcar race.
|
This pretty much sums up my exact thoughts. $10/night I'd be all over it. $30/night - I'll watch hockey instead.
