There was a very nice article with pictures in today's Sydney Daily Telegraph newspaper about female drivers at Valvoline Raceway.

Here is the link:

Most of these young women compete in the V6 wingless spring car class.  These cars have sprint car chassis and are powered by Holden (GM) V6 engines.  This is a great low cost way to get in to open wheel racing.

As indicted in the article, there are two female drivers Kelley Linigen and Kim Becker who compete regularly in the 410 class.

The new management team at VR are doing a great job of getting the word out about the top notch racing that we have in Sydney.  There was an article in the Telegraph last week about the arrival of Jac Haudenschild in Sydney to compete at the speedway.

The management team at VR are also very effectivly using Facebook and Twitter to keep the fans up to date on upcoming events and at the track and results of the races.

I remember the first night Barry turned up as a spectator.  Now he's probably the most powerful man in southern hemisphere speedway and he's only just started.  A lot more to come I hear and all good.

When I saw "lipstick leadfoots", I thought this might be an article about Dennis Moore Jr. You never knew what he was going to do next.

As a sprint car fan I am so thankful that Barry Waldron and his team including Wade Aunger and Steven Green are running VR.  They have made significant investments in the speedway and it is exciting to see all the positive changes in the facility and the way that it is being run !

I encourage American and Canadian sprint car fans to plan a winter vacation in Australia and take in the races.  You can include lots of other cool things while you are "down under".

This is on my bucket list...but of course with a wife and 4 young kids, vacations of the $10,000 variety aren't easy, let alone around sprint car racing.  Maybe in my 40's.

A tele call that a young up and coming American driver (male or female) gets in the middle of the night from an Aussie owner, to fly down under and spend a couple months as a hired gun has to be a dream come true.   It's cold, really cold right now in the upper midwest and only half way thru the 5 months of misery temp.  PS  sometime they wake up and it was a dream.

Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,
