If you just started stick with what you have for now.

Id have to agree, save your dough, purchase tires tires and more tires, dont hesitate to purchase one when thier starting to look a little skittish, NEW rubber under ANY chassis will make a world of differance .

but how old and maybe beat up is the Maxim, that might be reason he wants something different. The KPC look real nice.

I dont know the details of this particular driver nor his chassis , im making a generic observation based on the FACT 90% of drivers today that are top 5 or top 10 calibur team with large funding behind them . will say "oe, ya gotta have this ya gotta have that" were speeking of a rookie here correct? proubly someone that hasnt even destroyed a sprintcar yet---- YET!---- it will happen... (rookie drivers seek advice from teams that are simply like compairing apples to oranges) even the most competitive drivers still crash, now , with my experiances over the years, we did almost everything imagineable to a car to get it to hook and drive forward well,, NOTHING made a major differeance quite like fresh rubber did , when we went to 410 the car didnt care, fresh rubber was no magical jem for its settup, maybe we have completly different tastes, engines , or chassis, i dont know, im just simply not going to fill a new bee full of horse shit, about blowing a wad on the chassis and not nessaraly in competitive form yet? again, i dont know? stear away from the efforts of becoming financhally burnt out prior to making preogress, guain comfort, if he has a cash cow behind him then by all means everychassis builder in the market would have givin him the speal on how his chassis is right for him, he wouldnt be on a forum asking questions , Ive kicked alot of ass with some tore up shit, maybe im strange? maybe I know my limits, either way im honest, and he can take my advice or throw it away, either way is fine with me..

Get a torsion bar reamer and make sure they all turn freely. The torque ball needs to turn freely and w link needs to jingle. It should drive nearly as well as any other car unless yours is bent. Good bars and shocks help as well.
A good driver will gas up anything they are in. They might bitch some, but they still go real fast! Even on used tires...

I'd also recommend choosing running small tracks(smaller that 3/8ths) where you don't need a 50+K bullet to be competitive. Get the car under you and good center off and you will at least have chance to run well.

good information, which reminds me of troubles I had years ago, we had a light crash, after working the car over in the shop I couldnt quite get one of the front bars to turn freely, I monkied around forever, i finally grabbed my Micrometer , and started measurng, boy, this felt funney, micing a chassis ? anyway, I found the torsion tube,(bushing area) was now egg shaped ,virtually you coulnt notice it with the naked eye , after a light massage it worked perfectly, be creative with some tools in your shop, build devices that will aid in correction, mine look pretty cavemanish, but are effective, at one time or the other you will need them for straitning or quick repair, hopefully the inccident isnt enuff to make your season short , and a quick massage will get you back in the seat . goodluck.
