Request from one of the photographers...

Can we please split these autograph sessions a bit more, allowing a little less overlap so I can provide images from both sessions. An extra 15 minutes on the legends would be super helpful. Not a complaint, just a logistics issue for me.

3:45 - 4:30 would be AWESOME. Especially if most of the legends do not have to be at the drivers meeting.

Has there even been a thought to run an hour earlier in the evening?  It get dark real early.  Even when it really warm during the day, it does get really cold as the night goes on.   For eg. tonight  its 61 at 7pm and 52 by 10 pm.  Not bitching/complaining, but I notice fans tend to leave race tracks when A. It gets too late or B. It gets too cold.  Looks like great weather this year, but some years it could be really cold.

Any guess on Car count?

I'll Take Larson, u guys can have the field wink   Should be a great race.

What happened to the 2 Qualifing races?

Anyone else think we were robbed of racing for a lot of talking?

The car count was too low for two qualifying races. Traditionally, the format was... Qualify. Run the event. No last chance, nothing...

In talking to Scott last night on the radio show, I asked him this same question.  He said it was because of the low car count.  The format was designed for 48 cars, there were only 36 cars.  So, they made a call to just go with the one qualifier race.

As an earlier poster said, some previous formats were - qualify, fuel 'em up, line 'em up, race.

Scott's opinion (and I agree) is that more and more teams are saving their stuff for the Chili Bowl and that's affecting car count at Turkey Night.  It sure would be nice to get back to the big, big car counts for Turkey night.  But Chili Bowl is offering something that Turkey Night doesn't.   Broadcast TV coverage.

I did see some grumbling on twitter about paying $40 for PPV of Turkey Night and watching a lot of down time.   That's kinda the nature of racing.  There has to be some down time for track prep/car prep and it's boring.  Was there a lot of it at this year's Turkey Night?  Yes there was.

Hopefully Don Kazerian and the Agajanians will address this going forward to help this event flourish.

My opinion?  Get some broadcast TV involved to expose the rest of the country to this great race.

I love the midgets and Turkey Night, but the format has got to change. This year, qualifying ended at 6:30, and the feature pushed off at 8:26. During that hour and 56 minutes, we got one 12-lap race and a ton of yapping about what a great event we were at. I can assure you that the fairly new fans who we're sitting behind me did not think they were at a great event, and they won't be back.

Unless the midget rules change (which is very unlikely) Turkey Night is not going to draw more than 30 or 40 cars. I can't believe anyone who has spent more than 10 minutes around midget racing this year thought 48 cars would show up. For the future, I suggest running the usual program of qualifying, heat races, a semi and then the 98-lap feature.
