Only 16 non wing 360s at Canyon last nite?  2  heats of 8 ?  Whats going on here?  Is it the economy? Are there too many races ?  Too much traveling?  ( going to Kansas for 4 races is stupid in my opinion  Save your travel $$$$  and support your local dirt track)  Is is USAC ?  Is it something else? How does Prescot AZ  get 18 cars last race  and the Hank Arnold Memorial gets less? I'll skip ET NOV 1st now. Am looking forward to Western World and the USAC 410s  at Canyon in Nov as we are sure to see lots of out of town cars. Am honestly looking for answers and am concerned so don't bash me. For all the effort Kevin and Jeannie Montgomery have put into sprint car racing in AZ after Manzy closed....they diserve more support.

This sort of thing happens every year at about this time. Teams are running low on money and equipment. Some of them may reappear for the season ending spectacular events like the Western Worlds and the Oval Nationals.

If you look at all the cars that have scored a USAC Southwest Series point this year, less the national and califormia guys who come over for the extra money events; you will see there is not a shortage of cars at all in AZ.  In fact it's healthy in my opinion, AZ has always had a solid group of racing people.  There are a lot of events on the schedule, very few guys are truly running for points so I would say yes.  Guys are saving cash to participate in the end of year events.  lots of laps on lots of motors this time of year.  Most guys plan their annual budgets to skip some events anyway, so maybe scheduling a break this time of year would help.  If you look at the national and CRA series schedules you see 3-4 weeks off, maybe that's what we need here going into the year ending events.  I don't know.

It's a long summer, I would not consider the short car count last weekend to be a microcosim of any larger issue in play.  That's just my humble opinion, bash away if need be but i know of at least one car for sure that had planned on racing last weekend and just did not have a motor ready...
