so did bakker get the 1,500 for friday and everyone moved up a spot in pay or did chuck still get the money for 1st but just not the win? and did they award sat. prize money i heard somebody say that they got saturdays money as well but i find that hard to believe...also next year i think jackson should try and book the national tour and not just the northern plains so they could get more of the big dogs to come up like shane stewart and make it a big deal...

They had their hands full with the weather and did the best they could with what they had dealt to them by Ma Nature. I don't know how it was handled but in the case of a cancellation most tracks would not pay the final night's purse. It's pretty hard to pay out the big purse for the finale when they lost what would have been their best night at the ticket booth. If they did pay out the final night's purse then they did something that 99.9% of the rest of the tracks wouldn't have done.
It would be near impossible for them to reschedule the Nationals Features to any other day except today because there are other events on the calendar. As far as a National touring series race I attended the one at North Central in Brainerd and outside of seeing about six touring drivers I was disappointed in the turnout. It was good racing but the numbers just weren't there like you see with the IRA or Outlaws when they come around. The ASCS requires their spec heads for National series races and quite a few guys who run 360's around here don't have them. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think Jackson requires the heads for their weekly racing so it might even keep some of the weekly competitors from competing in a National event.
I think that Jackson made the right decision with Northern Plains and in this day and age getting a 33 car field of 360's anywhere in Minnesota is d*mn good. There were plenty of talented drivers there on Friday with a good field of cars and the racing was good. I liked the fact that Bob and Susan were invited to Jackson with the IMCA JJ series and the 305's were entertaining as well. Friday night of the Jackson Nationals had a field of 71 Sprints counting all three divisions and there's nowhere else you're going to see that north of Knoxville. Princeton's National and the Richert Memorial both got into the mid 40's there a couple times but that's the most Sprints I've seen anywhere else in Minnesota or western Wisconsin. Princeton ran their top 20 Wissota Mods in the points by invitation as a support class one night and vintage cars another. Cedar has the DTRA Midwest Mods running with the Sprints so neither of those tracks is going to equal the 71 Sprint Cars of the Jackson Nationals.
I'm not sure what the ASCS sanction fee is for a National race but it's likely to be more than a Northern Plains. If the fee is higher would the increased cost to the promoter have been worth it to attract six more cars? Based on the one ASCot race I saw I would have to say no. Maybe with Jackson being further south and racing on a Friday instead of the middle of the week would have drew more cars than NCS. I'm just going by my own observations but I think Jackson did the right thing. The weather was the unfortunate thing in this case.

Stan,
I agree with everything you said about Friday night.
If anyone didnt enjoy that show, then they will have a problem with every single race they attend.
I like the date change... alot.
The problem with getting the Knoxville cars up to Jackson, is Donnellson Iowa, which is somewhere in south east , Iowa. It seems that whenever Knoxville rains out, or doesnt have a show, the cars opt to make a shorter haul, race against guys they know and make it home Saturday night rather than Sunday afternoon.
I had a great time at Jackson last weekend, along with everyone that was in our camp.

I agree, they did the best the could with what they have to work with and it was a good show, well worth the drive for me. 71 Sprints was my tally based on the results published on the Jackson website. 33 ASCS, 19 IMCA and 19 305's = 71 total. Granted a person could wonder why there weren't more than 33 but a lot of factors come into play. The other show in Iowa was mentioned and there aren't that many ASCS type 360's in the area to begin with. A few that run Northern Plains and open shows up by me by this time of the year have blown motors and figure why bother rebuilding when there aren't that many shows left. We've got some cars based around the Cities and points north that weren't there for various reasons. A few of them I can think of have never run at Jackson. Only the ones with a stout motor feel they're competitive on a big half mile and some of the guys I know only run short tracks. Actually, with the exception of a few cars I see a whole different group of guys racing some of these other shows.
It was a pretty good deal for what it was. If you want 100+ cars you have to go to the Knoxville Nationals but nobody up here is going to duplicate something like that.

IMCA sprints can run any head. only the stacks have to be sleeved down to inch and seven eighths. so you'll see iron and aluminum heads, some even ascs heads which don't flow as well but are used. but there is an $825 head claim so if you finish in the top four you may have to sell yr heads for that.

sorry leadhead. theres no motor claim in IMCA. only heads. and if i needed to borrow a tool or a part i know that the 20G would help me if he had it. even though i claimed his heads last year. if theres no hard feelings with him then why would a leadhead care? hmm. the end
