If there is a rainout on Friday, William Grove will not pay the 50k to win the Natty Open. If they only get in Saturday then it is 10k and Friday and Saturday get rained out then it is 20k on Sunday. Anyone know why?

I am not sure why!
I remember when Cody Darrah won it. It rained out, it was ran the next weekend and it paid only $10,000.00 to win!

That year it was no longer an outlaw race after it was rescheduled. If tomorrow only pays $10k that makes no sense. I'd be pissed!

I find it more humorous than anything. If this was the "plan" all along, why wait until the day before the race to let the full-time teams know?
too bad that WG management (and a lot of other tracks as well) doesn't realize that purse cutting is what runs off team owners (Late Models are notorious for this when weather is an issue (they use the excuse of: "well, you're here already, you can stay and race for 1/4 of what we advertised or we'll just cancel and you get $50 tow $$$").
IMO, promotors and track operators need to realize that you win some and you lose some. Great weather weekends with big events and you "break the bank", bad weather weekend and big event and you might lose $$$. It's business and every business knows that some days are better than others (you just hope the good days outnumber the bad).
Retail stores, gas stations, hardware stores, etc. all deal with weather too (it costs them the same to be open whether or not people are walking in the door to buy anything or not). Big snowstorms can mean a loss of sales of 50% or more (and from my experience in retail, you don't make that up, over 1/2 the $$ spent in retail stores is not what they came in there to purchase in the first place).

If I had to guess why, I would say it has everything to do with the ticket sales. If the weather is bad, people will stay home.

Rest assured if there is a rain out it will take place after your pay your admission and get to see the fireworks show.

UPDATE #1 - STRONG RUMOR - (10-3-14 @ 10:20 am CST) - I received word that this post by Donny Schatz on Facebook referrs to the plan for this weekend should Williams Grove Speedway get rained out one or both nights.
The plan is that if one night gets rained out, then they will be racing for $10,000 instead of the $50,000 to win purse. The only way Sunday will be an option is that if both Friday and Saturday get rained out, then they will run on Sunday and for $20,000. The only way the $50,000 gets paid out is if they run as scheduled..Friday and Saturday.
FACT - (10-2-14 @ 10:20 pm CST) - Does anyone know what Donny Schatz was referring to on his Facebook post from earlier today? It states (see attached photo) "Thank God for more options in racing after reading "refreshing the preliminary plan" email via the World of Outlaws". Seems pretty interesting to say the least. Is something brewing in the WoO that Donny Schatz (and maybe other drivers/teams) are not happy with?

I don't want anything, I was simply pointing out where it came from.

Sorry guys...I got my information from a team owner that has a car racing in the National Open. I don't know if things changed during the day or not but he told me this is what was going on at Williams Grove. Sorry for the bad information.

Your "team owner" mis-read the email. There was NEVER a plan in place for the National Open to pay anything less than $50,000 if Friday rained out but Saturday ran as scheduled. (The email stated that if Saturday AND Sunday rained out, but the Friday show ran, then Friday would become a standard $10,000 to win purse instead of the scheduled $8000 to win purse.)
