Chilliothe is very close to the track and probably the closest place to stay. The racing at the track has been great each time i have gone to Atomic, the facility itself needs a few improvements here and there. Overall they make it a fun time, have a little trailer for beer, merchandise shed, view from the pits is nice. Grandstands are close to the track so you feel the action.

If I remember right from Chilicothe you'd take 23 south to Alma & turn right at the carry out if it's still there & go back up in there about 2 miles & the track was on the left.
Whatever you do DO NOT try to get over to the road where the houses are from the parking lot. The ditch will get you !!!!

If you're coming from the South there are hotels in Waverly & Piketon. There is camping with hookups across the ditch from the track on Willett Rd. It is a great track worth the drive. They have indoor theatre style seating if you are interested.

NEVER saw a bad race there (only 6 or 8), it ALWAYS had a top and a bottom with LOTS of banking. I remember a W of O's show there that had 3 and even 4 wide racing down the frontstretch, in my top 5 of All-Time (over 500 seen). I think Jason Myers won with a pass for the lead on the last lap or maybe even the last corner, thought he was coming into the stands he was so high, think I was sitting with Coach Bob if he is still around these parts. Loved the place and the set-up.....

No sir but I have seen a RV that turned onto that road & tried to back up. Well they needed a wrecker to get it out & forget the year but it seemed to be a Mustang that was newer to whatever year it was & he thought he was going to beat the traffic by going over there & the front end went in there.

You referring to the night with all the rain and fog delays? That race which was won by Meyers was the best I've ever seen. I think it was Meyers, Kemenah, Steve, Mark and Sides battling for the lead and sliding each other without mercy lap after lap....AWESOME race

That's the one Meat, Kerry Madsen was also involved. I had put the Camera away because of those conditions you mentioned and sat in the stands for one of my most memorable races of All-Time. I saw/shot another race there once with the All-Stars that had Kelly Kinser running the bottom and somebody whom I forget running the top but they ran side by side for many, many laps and it was also magic, miss that place.....

Thanks for the kind words about my home track! I grew up in the hills close to there and have traveled around a little bit, but I have never came accross a faster more high banked 3/8 mile track than good ole Atomic.

I forgot about Madsen. Definitely a great race. i sat in turn 4 and ate mud balls all night, loved every minute of it!!! Best part of the night is that we didn't plan on staying the night but due to the delays we had to get a room. We struck up a conversation with the cute hillbilly 50/50 girl and she even invited us to stay at her house...if it wasn't for me being scared of her Daddy waiting on the front porch with a shotgun, I would have lol

I actually have family down in Chilicothe. A fella named Porterhouse used to get on here & I finally met him & a couple others from there & he said he went to school with some of them (namesakes).
Heard they used to have get togethers back say 48 to 51 years ago because I don't remember them.
