That was a ridiculously boring feature. I like they tried something new but 52 cars x 2 qualifying laps, 10 heat races of 10 laps, 12 lap c, 15 B, and 40 A the track couldn't take it all. Stevie's interview says it all when he said he just fell in behind lapped cars because there was no way around them.

How were those "double reversed" heats?

They worked out just fine. you actually saw some very tight and hard racing in the mid pack back as guys worked to come forward.
Lincoln is usually very good as far as track prep goes and if was again last night. The crew hit it about as close as they could but it did start to take rubber towards the end of the B main. It was still racy until about the halfway point in the A then it just really started to take rubber and the top went away. Everybody went to the bottom and stayed there. That was not the track prep folks fault though, just a lot of laps from these cars.
All in all it was a good race. The one thing I would say needs worked on more than anything is the damned parking lots. Holy crap!!!!! They were just a terrible mess. People parking in weird places, campers taking what would be 10 spots. All night you could hear on the PA "Car xyz with license ABC you need to move your car or it will be towed". Glad I got to the track at 4:30, but even then it was hard to find a spot.

They were inverted by time trials. Start on the pole in the first one, eighth in the second.

By the half-way point, Monteith was about the only one running the top and passing cars. When he pulled it in, shoulda just headed to the parking lot to beat the crowd. Other tracks try to keep up with the conditions on a long night with a lot of cars, and sprinkle a little water around the top to keep it racy for the feature. Lincoln made no such effort.

A little water around the top is going to do anything to a track that has that many laps on in. Even if they ran a sheep's foot it may have kept the track from rubbering up for about 5 more laps. The only way to help a track like that is to cut it, water it, and run it back in.....which they weren't going to do at 10:45. I'm pretty sure LIncoln has been having some difficulties with the neighbors in recent years (hence the new camping rules...etc.), and the last thing they want to do is run till after midnight.
