It is time to tweak the car costs , the rules , give owners a reason to be in this business we all love to watch , or participate in . It use to be a fun time for all , as it wasn't so cost or win driven to keep up with other teams . I like to hear everyone's thoughts on this . I know that you may not agree with some of my statement , but it is time to act on something isn't it ?

I am sorry you feel that way about me , I am not stupid or other adjectives you use for me , I am a concerned fan like you . The state of sport is good but bad in some ways . Yes , I know what to do but the powers above me obviously don't or they would do something about costs , owners and othere items that need attention to make our sport even better .

when you figure out how to control technology you might be able to control cost.

Who/which group are you trying to have change their rules to contorl costs? 410, 360, 305 wing/ 410 NW, 360 NW?
It is a pretty broad statement. I would say, for example, the UMSS traditional sprints in the north do a great job of controlling costs. The motors are fairly cheap and easy to get/build. The racing is quite solid. They have doubled the number of drivers in the past 2 years with a good chance of adding another 4-8 this upcoming year. It doesn't appear they have a lot of issues unless you don't like a growing class of cars with lots of drivers and good racing?

Maybe you could run around the pits and tell the owners that $100,000+ haulers don't make the car go any faster around the track.

Actually, change rules around the haulers. Shorter & open haulers get largest advantage in pill draw process. Only thing I would say that would need consideration there is for the guys who come 100 miles or more to race. THey need to bring more gear/ tools, etc so some adjustment would need to be allowed for them to have bigger rig. Also the UTV's and the inventory on them could use some flattening. I am sure some of those UTV's are rolling $25k- 35k rigs with base rig cost, tools, and parts on board.

That would be in the traditional class. The winged numbers seem to have hit a plateua. The Traditionals (non-wing) run a motor equivalent to a B Mod so the cost of the motors is within the grasp of more potential racers. The winged cars run with injector sleeves and a spec tire so it's essentially your standard 360 motor. With a few tweaks they can run Jackson, Knoxville or pretty much any 360 race. The motors for the winged class aren't any cheaper than what anybody else around the country are running. IMCA Arlington on the other hand are the Race Saver 305's.

I was in the sport off and on for 27 years. Here is what I think would help make it cheaper and better racing.
1) Wings - Top Wing body,1 square foot smaller, Side boards 6" smaller. Front wing, 4" smaller side boards.
2) RR Tire - Smaller at 16" wide, 102" cir. max. Open tire make rule.
3) Engine: 11:1 compression, 2.625 injectors (or restrictors). Motors could run 20 -25 shows.
Better racing and cheaper for owners.

I like the 'motors could run 20-25 shows' I think bringing the horsepower down slightly, would be unnoticable in the racing part of the program and HUGE in the pocketbooks. So what if there would be no track records falling in qualifying. Pointless for these teams to push these motors for that last 2% of their power. Back 'em off a bit. Wing and tire ideas are also good.
