It seems for the past few years many have come on here and claimed Schatz was sandbagging in time-trials to get a front-row starting spot in his heat race.  Well now the rolls are reversed as Pittman is now a regular on the front-row of his heat race but no one is griping at all.  The BIG difference between the 2 is that Pittman still isn't winning races.  Donny and his guys are qualifying well and it doesn't seem to matter where the 15 starts he still is winning.  If Pittman cant start on the front row he cant win.  My point is why all the bitching last year about Schatz supposedly sand-bagging but when Pittman is now apparently doing it no one says a word?

I would like to know the stats on how many cars Pittman has passed on his way to 13 wins. It has to be less then 13 cars.

There is no need to sandbag anymore since the WoO altered their format about midway thru the season.  Depending on the number of heats, the top 4 or 5 in qualifying make it to the dash as long as they transfer.

They said the same thing about Steve Kinser years ago.  He said he was not, but even if he was there is no rule against it.

Can you tell me how many cars Schatz has passed in his 22 wins?

I didn't count cars passed but I did check to see that:

All 7 of Joey's wins have come off the front row, including tonight.

Of Donny's 22 wins, only 7 have come off the front row with him having no less than 3 wins from 10th position or further back.

Pittman has started on the front row 9 of his 13 wins and of the other 4 wins he started 5th once, 4th once and 3rd the other 2 times. (these are positions, not rows)

McMahan has started on the front row 3 of his 5 wins with the other 2 being from the 4th position (2nd row)

Of Madsen's 6 wins, 3 came off the front row, 2 of them from 4th position and one from seventh position.

The best sandbagger in the world couldn't beat Schatz the last few years, so who cares?

Pittman has 20th quick equipment... But since he is so talented he drives up to 15th quick!

I think WoO should get rid of qualifying and just do a pill draw for heat lineups and then the top 2 in each heat advance to the dash, qualifying is a boring waste of time anyways.

I remember being involved in this conversation before--and I agree with getting rid of qualifying.

Pill draw for 1st set of heat races.  Jumble the starting spots from 1st set of heat races and set another field of cars for 2nd set of heat races.  (The technology exists to do this)    For example--If you start 2nd in the first set of heat races, you start 2nd to last in the 2nd set of heat races-with a scrambled field of cars--not totally scrambled, but a slightly different field in each set of heats.

They can set the fields of cars and run with just a short break in between rounds of heats--maybe while support class is running.

Give points for finishing spot AND cars passed.  No trophy dash needed.  No sandbagging.  Racing all night.  Every spot in the field is important--not just the transfer spot.

The main problem right now--if you don't start top 3 or 4 spots, you likely don't have a shot to win.  That is why it seems drivers are playing the 'sandbagging' game.  And yes, they are good enough to add tenths to a lap--same as they are capable of finding ways to shave tenths off of a lap.   Everyone talks negatively about NAPCAR.  If they don't find a way to get these winged cars to stop running a conveyor belt, it is going to be just as bad as NAPCAR.  For some reason, the winners were coming from deeper in the field on a regular basis a couple of years back.  This year it seems they are all coming from the front row.

I know it has been stated that they need to find a way to unlock the cars from the track.  I don't know the answer, but they really need to take a look at this.  Look at the qualifying procedure.  Look at the size of the wing.  Tires.  Anything that can make this racing more exciting.  Everyone laughs at the product Nascar puts on the track, but I at least give Nascar credit for one thing--they don't just sit on tradition--they at least TRY to make changes to fix their problem.  It really hasn't worked yet, but at least they aren't sitting on their hands.  The WOO--as big of a fan as I am--needs to get off their hands and look into thinking outside of the box.  You can't survive if the only fans you keep happy are the traditionalists.  You're going to need some new blood in the seats.

The WoO need to consider something like this for one very large reason... and that is that at half of their shows anymore they don't get enough cars to even run a B main.  So fans are paying 35 to 40 bucks to watch 24 cars or less race 3 heats, a dash, and a feature.  Fans need more races and to see more racing in those races.  An idea like this accomplishes both things.  You get to see at least 6 heats, plus a dash, and a feature at a minimum.

At the very least they should consider this for shows where they have less than 32 cars (enough for 4 heats of 8)

Agreed. Time trials are good for learning who's in which car, thats about it
