A flak is a pitchman, selling his employers wares. Everywhere on the internet ads assault one, and force you to go wade thru them. Cal boards are now continuing ads for one sanction. The title is SCRAFAN, not USAC Inc.

I have no problem with getting results from all of the races going on at a given time, and I am thrilled to see so many 410 non-wing races going on in one week in California. I wouldn't complain about so many results on the Forums, and I was about to criticize davemahar for whining about getting race results until I jumped over to SCRAFAN to see what he was complaining about. All of the race results belong there, but there is way too much promotional news releases for all of the USAC divisions on the SCRAFAN forum.
You go through pages on SCRAFAN before finding anybody else but ljennings, and if you look at the top of the page you will see he is the MODERATOR. Hard to regulate the guy that regulates the website. I think he needs to temper his posts a bit. I agree with davemahar. I believe that at least 50% or more of his posts could be on the USAC forum and no where else. In addition the USAC forum needs a lot of help and input as it is almost DOA other than the classifieds. Ljennings is going to cause ruin to the good forum he is moderating. As a fix for ljennings to continue his unabashed promotion of USAC he should follow Hoseheads change to their sprint car news pages. I was one of the first on the bandwagon to ask Allan Holland to break out promotional material from race results on Hoseheads main news page several years ago, and since he has, I am a big fan and regular reader of Hoseheads again. If the ljennings trend continues on SCRAFAN, the same breakout needs to happen there and two forums need to be started. One race results, one press releases.
On another marketing note, I hope the drivers who hire the marketing teams such as PETERSEN MEDIA-Chico, CA realize that too much of it comes across to owners and fans as cheap self promotion. I think the marketing companies like Peterson Media provide a good service when done in moderation and when it is offerred in a format that promotes the sport as a whole and is honest with the reader that it is a promotional piece. I am not bashing Peterson, as I think they do a decent job, except when they obviously are getting caught up after a busy week and post a dozen or so driver's press releases at the same time to Hoseheads and wherever else they post. Now that promotional items are divided into the Press Release portion of Hoseheads, I actualy don't mind scanning them for relevant information about race results as they usually contain some good information about the races involved.
Summary: Put press releases where they belong and don't make us search in a pile of them looking for the results and race reports we all want after a weekend of racing.
