Eldora's lap times are a joke. That is NOT a half mile. Ask any drivers who go there how "fast" it is. I'm not disounting the fact that Eldora is "fast". But the fastest "1/2 mile" track on the east coast has got to be Selinsgrove Speedway. That joint IS a 1/2 mile on the inside guardrail.

I wouldn't leave Hagerstown out the conversation either as far as speed goes. Yeah it's a MD track but it's a semi regular visit by the Pa crowd. Fast time this July for PA speed week was 15.2 by Lucas Wolfe

Here's a quick measurement I just did of Eldora. I tried to keep the measurement as close to the middle of the track as possible. At .45 of a mile, the track record of 12.707 seconds is 127.488 mph. The Non-Wing track record speed is 110.114 mph at that measurement.

My vote for fastest in the US is Volusia...
Volusia Speedway Park is a half-mile dirt oval.
The track record was established in 2011 during the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals when World of Outlaws Sprint Car driver Paul McMahan circled the track in qualifying with a lap in 12.569 seconds at 143.209 mph.
The older I get, the faster I used to be.

That is if we use the outside fence as the distance of the track. The inside guardrail measures .4 miles which would compute to an average speed of 114 mph. The middle of the track would be .45 which would be 129 mph which is still moving pretty good and more likely the average speed. There is lies, damn lies, and then we have statistics. We all calculate things differently to fit our likings.

I always get a kick out of quarter-mile tracks promoting themselves at 3/8 mile tracks. That's a huge amount of difference in distance, but it sure makes the cars faster than they really are!

Excellent point. Devils Bowl absolutely sucks when it's fast. That track definetly needs to slick off a little and slow the stop watch down a little bit before the racing gets better.
