NASCAR must have a pretty good idea Stewart isn't going to be facing any charges for him to be coming back. They don't do anything without dotting their i's and crossing their t's.

Did NASCAR actually park Tony or was his absence 100% voluntary? NASCAR seems to be taking quite a bit of credit for Smoke's return....you know they want him back as soon as he was ready.

Although nothing about the investigation has been made public, my guess is that Stewart and his lawyers have certainly stayed in the loop with investigators and the District Attorney. This leads me to believe Stewart and his camp are fairly confident there won't be charges against him. It is speculation, at this point, but that's my guess.

Good for you Smoke you need to race. We are still praying for all that were affected by that accident but we need to start living are lives again.
I know that every race I go to this weekend I will be wearing my TONY STEWART sprint car shirts to show my support of Smoke. I think others should do the same.
God Bless everyone this holiday weekend.

Or you could wear a Kevin Ward Jr. shirt: www.themerchery.com/collections/kevinwardjr
According to the website, proceeds go to help the Ward family.

He looks like he has aged 10 years and I agree he doesn't sound all too well emotionally as you posted.
I could be way off base here but it makes one wonder if his return is more sponsor motivated than anything else???

Unfortunately that press conference is going to be the easy one. I think when they open it up for media questions that is when the shitstorm hits.
Honestly he is in a no win situation right now. He is still trying to deal with the accident and all the emotions involved with that and he is going to be under a microscope from the media. I am sure anytime it looks like he is starting to enjoy things (racing) again the haters will start to bash on him again.

He read a pre-written statement. Said he isn't allowed to answer any questions because of ongoing investigation.

So your surprised he got a high dollar attorney?
I can guarantee you that the Ward Family has been contacted by and probably retained by this point, some of the most high profile civil litigation attorneys in the US, so why is it you think that Stewart should get an attorney that has "We settle bankruptcy, divorce and paternity for $100" on there offices front window.

I saw the Stewart video and thought that he appeared very subdued.
As far as the Ward family is concerned, rest assured that there will be (or already have been) any number of bottom-feeding attorneys on their door step urging them to sue and assuring them that there will be no cost to them as he/she will take the case on a contingency basis -- and that's coming from someone who holds a law degree!

No surprise he has a high profile defense lawyer considering the first impressions of people that were at the track that night, whether it was an accident or not. Anybody would. Wonder how many times his lawyers had him practice reading that statement.

Multiple people close to Stewart said that statement he made today came straight from him and nobody else!
