isn't it hard to spray dirt at him on what looked like a hard packed slick track?

another driver a few cars behind stewart saw it differently than Porier.

"From what I saw, Tony did everything in his power to turn down away from Kevin to avoid him," said sprint car driver Cory Sparks.
In other news, eyewitness reports can vary from perspective and can outright suck.

Told people the same thing FullTank. The local paper had something in it today & it/they keep saying that they hit & I do not believe so or Kevin's front end would have hit the wall before the RR did.
I also believe Tony did not see him & tried to take evasive action.
Tony could not have gotten close enough to the cushion to spray dirt on him where his car was setting & or where he was standing.

I'm not taking sides one way or another and only Tony knows what happened. Now if this driver says he saw it all why couldn't Tony have seen him ? We can all speculate but it all comes down to a horrible accident. We all have to just wait to see how it pans out.

If something like this had happened for example with Dave Blaney I don't think people would be second guessing the whole deal. The fact that it was a driver who has a track record of confrontations is working against him and causing the media to question his motives. I can't say for a fact what Tony was thinking and have only seen the one angle from across the track. This is going to be a long drawn out difficult deal for everyone involved in racing. I think the first thing that needs to be done is to put an end to the theatrics of drivers running down onto the track after a wreck. No angry driver is going to match up against a moving car and come out the winner so all levels of racing need to address that issue. NASCAR shares some of the blame for allowing that behavior to exist at the Cup level. Young kids watch the theatrics and grow up thinking that is acceptable.
In cases like this I defer to my days working on the catapult crew of an aircraft carrier. If one of our crewmen had turned his attention from the aircraft to argue with another crewman they would have been promptly relieved of their flight deck duties. Any race track with cars circling even if it's under yellow is potentially dangerous. I have never liked the WWE type vibe of drivers walking out on the track during yellow to air out a beef with another driver. If racing loses a few of the wrestling and soap opera crowd in the process so be it. The racing should be the show, not dropping the gloves and bench clearing brawls.

Well said Stan. You see it in all sports now with everyone throwing up the hands and wanting to congfront anything that is close. Good comparison with your time on a carrier.

Thanks for the compliment but I'm just stating one of my pet peeves. Ask any photographer if they have been showered with clay and rocks because some idiot was mad at the guy who who the race. We get caught in the middle and get the brunt of this stupid behavior.
Another pet peeve is angry drivers doing 360's after getting spun into the infield. I'm not talking about drivers simply trying to straighten out and get back on the track but the ones that are clearly angry. A few years ago a B Mod driver was pissed off and did a few 360's. Out of the cloud of dust comes a 4" diameter rock that hits me square in the shin. It swelled up after I got home and I couldn't walk for a couple days. The thing bothered me for six months so I probably had a small fracture as a result of some idiot trying to show everyone in the stands how mad he was. If that rock had gotten some altitude they'd probably be changing my bed pan right about now.

Can I ask you who implied that Tony tried to hit him? No where prior to your post or anywhere in this forum have I read where someone implied that Tony tried to hit him.

His family has a bit different perspective than you do, they're questioning why Kevin decided to storm out of his car in the manor he did so. Not placing blame on stewart, or anything else, they're questioning the actions of Kevin that evening....

Clearly these cars were racing closely on the laps prior to this helf lap video clip...hard racing that results in contact is often waged for severla laps if you have ever been to a race in person. And the pissed off energy has time to ferment.
it looks as though Ward called out the 45 with similar gestures...the 45 was ahead of both the 13 and 14.
very probabble that deflating RR was samaged as those cars raced him hard and the 13 who spun when it gave out.
DAs review investigation evidence for crinimal intent /acts as directed by the legal code...charges are never named until the investigation is complete.
the only people who are calling out charges right now are flippant posters who appear to be convinced some unnamed person is claiming "murder" when I have not heard this mentioned by any reliable source.
jumping to the conclusion that the DA will issei a charge of that magnitude is not supported by this one video angle IMO.
We know they have a second video angle as the sheriff said as much...and is asking for more that may be out there.
if the videos do not line up with statements made to the investigators by stewart or any of the witnesses, does the word of one prevail over the weight of evidence If it goes to court...depends on the jury doesnt it?

From the time the # 13 Sprint Car came to a stop in turn 2, 16 Seconds Went By before he was hit, & he was out of that car in about 8 Seconds ( He climbed out of the car in RECORD TIME), I'm Pretty sure NONE OF THE OTHER DRIVERS Expected to see him standing on the Track, heck the yellow flag was just thown 20 Seconds ( Hence the cars were still moving at a pretty good speed) before the 14 car made contact with # 13 Sprintcar Driver, I'm Sure none of the other drivers expected to see him standing on the track too, The Last thing # 14 had on his mind, slowing down for the yellow flag was to encounter a driver standing on the track in the middle of turn's 1 & 2.

One thing about the accident is certain ... just as 'cream rises to the top' -- the ill-informed idiots with an agenda sink to the lowest levels imaginable.

I'd say the only input Cubic has left to add to his theory is that this was all somehow the fault of XXX chassis

classic straw man argument case - nobody with any credibility has said "intentional" that I have seen...except the people who are losing their minds THINKING someone said "intentional"!
