It was essentially the same paint scheme, just a chrome looking wrap. The wrap came apart during the A feature Friday night so I'm certain the just put a normal wrapped wing on for Saturday.

Pretty easy to change a couple panels, a tailtank, and two wings. I'm sure every panel was pulled of the car after Thursday anyway just to clean, so putting back other matching panels and wings is no big deal. I was basing my comments on the fact that the tail tank still looked very shiny from the stands, but don't know for sure. Thats also just a couple bolts and a fuel line. Chassis were both black so who knows.
By the way.... I don't know for sure, but i don't think there is a rule against changing cars from your prelim night to Saturday.

I noticed Saturday afternoon the car they had out was not the chrome car. Looked in the hauler and the chrome car was up on the deck. My guess is the car wasn't responding to adjustments like they wanted and went with a proven car they had been running prior to the nationals.

Thank you Scottb15.....I assumed something like that. Is it a rule that you have to use the same car you qualify in...unless you destroy it before the Championship race...?

They would have had to change the body between the World Challenge and the Finals. I kinda predicted the paint failure on the wing because candy colors don't stick to bare aluminum very well. Tried it 13 years ago and it failed even with adhesion promoter. It held up on the Wiekert car though?

It was changed over due to the paint flying off the car. According to the team, they didn't want it happening again and causing a caution.
