Sorry if this has been addressed in another thread, but does Knoxville have wi-fi at the track? reason i'm asking is i'd like to listen to the radio broadcast of the race from the grandstands on my iphone, but my carrier (Sprint) tends to have spotty coverage in rural areas, and I assume the KNIA/KRLS apps need wi-fi to work well.

There is a new technology called a transistor radio that would allow you to listen to KNIA over the air. No registration or log in necessary.

You could try the tunein radio app, data needed obviously.

thanks friend, I'm aware. Taking an airplane to the race, already going to have an iPhone and iPad, so trying to lighten my load and not go buy 1960s technology if I don't have to.

Does the station belong to IHEART Radio? Great app if they belong to it.

You can buy a cheapo at Walmart for like $8. The one I bought a couple of years ago has more than served its purpose of saving my data on the phone and to top it off, during the Nationals you will find your phone not working so hot for email and data a lot of time. One tip that helps is use earbuds under a noise cancelling headset, I use my am/fm radio a long with my race scanner. Works awesome!

thanks!...that was really my question...the data and/or wifi coverage at the track. I know there is an app from KNIA/KRLS, but if there isn't sufficent data coverage it doesn't matter...I'll pick up something at walmart once i get there. thanks again!
