Sorry if this has been asked before....does anybody know of any TV coverage of the Nationals this year? Or is the only option internet streaming - if that is even available?
For those lucky enough to be going - have fun, and safe travels! Go Shane and Rico!!

Why is this event not semi-live like the truck race last night. Alphabet soup delayed about 30 min to an hour and then a live feature.

The $$$$ it costs to be on Live TV is probably the main reason (and the loss of revenue by the track from the "fans" that will come watch Wed-Fri at the track and then stay home or drive home and watch on TV Saturday (the track doesn't get paid to have the race on TV, the track PAYS to have the race on TV).

Still think this isn't true. If someone has the means to go to Saturday and are within distance, I'd bet most would even if it was on TV. Counting this as "lost" revenue doesn't seem right, because I doubt it's revenue to begin with.

The track does not pay to have it on TV. Obviously there is not enough demand for it at the moment. From what i understand, a TV network will make an offer to the track for the rights to show it(Which MavTV I assume did for rights to tape delay it). The Cushion(I assume) is giving the track a certain cut of their revenue from online PPV.

Better attend a Fairboard meeting or two. The last time it was on LIVE TV, the Fairboard paid for the TV time, and when it was on SPEED tape delayed, the fairboard paid for the TV time. F1 and NASCAR are the only 2 sanctioning bodies that are on TV and getting paid to be on TV (IndyCar was paying to be on TV for all events except the Indy 500 in 2013), all those other forms of racing, same thing.
Not sure what the deal with MavTV is, but highly doubtful that the racetrack is getting paid for it, more than likely it's part of Lucas Oil's Sponsorship, so no $$$ is changing hands.
Now, a lot of forms of motorsport are being sponsored by Lucas Oil (who owns MavTV), and they are pretty much all on TV. Are they broadcasting the events for free to get their name out there more? Are they promising TV in exhange for their banners being hung everywhere in lieu of giving the series $$$? No idea, but whatever they are doing it's working, Lucas Oil is on everything these days and you see forms of motorsport on TV that have never had TV in the past.

The last year it was on Live TV, I know people that live IN TOWN that attended Wed-Fri and then stayed home and watched on TV on Saturday, said why pay for it when they could watch for Free on TV then walk to the track and go to the pits or go party after the races. That is definetely lost revenue.

Certainly don't understand why anyone would stay away to watch it on tv. I would not miss one in person and I always record it to catch stuff that might have been going on in the pits that we in the stands might not have been aware of. Nothing like the real thing but I did enjoy seeing the recording of the Dude telling George to go ahead and hit him and then stepping back 10 feet so he couldn't reach him. Special moments. ha ha.
My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

I don't understand either, but I know it happens (even know people that did it), said they could go do something else on a weekend because it saved them $400 between tickets and food/drink by skipping the final night (family of 4).
Sounds like ticket sales are going well and I know I saw many out-of-staters in town already last weekend.

Track paid dearly to have it on TV and I do not see any financial benefit of it being on TV. Best racing event that ever occurs and doesn't need to be on TV unless the track gets paid to have it on TV in my opinion.

All I have to say "BLACKOUT" it happens for all types of sport. Thats the easies way to stop all the people from staying home. If theirs a sell out of a number of tickets sold then the track could lift the blackout.

So, how do you "blackout" all those people that drive home to Colorado, Arkansas, Texas, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennesse, etc. I know MANY people that drove 12 hours home after the races on Friday nights in the past years to watch Saturday on TV also.
It's a no-win situation for the track. The complainers that don't come to Knoxville want to watch it for free (or comlain about the PPV pricing) and when they do have TV, those of us in the stands suffer through delays for commercials and make the experience less enjoyable.
Having it Tape Delayed makes the most sense (those that actually paid for tickets and attend don't have the program altered for TV, those that want to watch the broadcast still can at a later date, and those that can't attend but want to see it live can rent it on PPV).
Only 3 more days and the 360 Nationals are here, weather is going to be mild (highs in the low 80's and lows in teh 60's) for this week which should make it that much more enjoyable.

I think then Knoxville could have a PPV online like other tracks (ELDORA) where you can pay the track to show you the race on your computer. Then the track could make the money from the person that does not want to go to the track that night. If a ticket is $40 then charge $40 or even a little more to cover overhead cost on the broadcast.

They do, www.thecushion.com is where all of Knoxville's PPV are done. Not sure how much $$ the track gets out of it, but those that want to stay home and watch have to pay (although you can have 20 people watching it at your house so it is indeed "cheaper" than being there.
