You are literally AT the Radio Station so you should get very good reception!! Lol

Do they do a live broadcast from the announcers booth on a transistor radio ?. They do this at the PAS and you hear all the action that is taking place.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

The place next to Dingus is Biannchi Boys. They have pizza, pasta, sandwiches, etc. Its really good food. Fresh ingredients, handmade... Also try the Downtown Diner and the Red Ribbon Bakery downtown.

Thanks for all the input. I don't have a smart phone so internet and Aps are out unless the Campground has Wifi. We will not have a car so I will be buying the paper, listening to the radio, and taking advantage of all the activities and restaraunts in town. Can't wait!
Bring back Santa Fe, and LaSalle .

same here...we are staying in West Des Moines, so wondering what to do/see during the day. I'm sure we'll get to the race track early each day, but don't want to be standing around in the August heat all day looking for ways to pass the time.
also, can't find anyting about pit passes for the Nationals...how much, etc?

Prairie Meadows Casino in Altoona if you've got money to lose, at least I'm a loser anyway....
Mesquaki (spelling?) Casino in Tama is about an hour away I've heard. I've also heard it's a better casino.
When we were there last week the Iowa State Fair was happening in Des Moines. Not sure if it's that way this year, or if it's not the same every year?

We will be at the RV's campground near The Red Carpet Motel and the sprint car on a pole owned by Van Donslers. I don't know which lot. 36' Bounder camper with Illinois tags. It's my in-laws camper so Idon't have a real good description.

Kick it kickball game is pretty entertaining, good selection of auction items and the $$ goes to a great cause, Big Als pinewood derby , Dingus has trike races or bikini contests we'll just see what it is this year? if your into that type stuff..
