Stan, this portion of the ASCoC schedule is what used to be called the "Thunder Through the Plains Tour" that was put together back in the early to mid 90s or thereabouts.  Bert put this together back then and for quite a while it was co-sanctioned by the NCRA.  At that time it was run after the Nationals for a week or so, but has since migrated on the calendar to before the Nationals.  The loss of the NCRA sanctioning 410s hurt this set of races, and the change to regional titles for the ASCoC a few years ago was a shot at trying to get car counts up for all of their "away from home" races because there is now a point fund for the "Plains region" races.  So I'm sure the series didn't really ask the teams because this set of races has a legacy to it, but I think we're seeing more and more signs of how teams feel about the state of the ASCoC.

If they aren't polling their membership to get a show of hands each off season prior to booking these shows they're only setting themselves up for trouble.  Fans at places like Husets for instance aren't going to want to pay and extra five bucks or whatever it is for their weekly show +2.

I'm five hours from the Husets scene up where I live so it's pretty much off my radar.  That is quite a distance for anyone in the Twin Cities Metro area who has to be to work on Monday morning.  Taking vacation to go see a Husets weekly show +2 travelers is out of the question.  Saving vacation and racing budget for when the good stuff comes up this way.  Next big event in our area is the WoO sanctioned USA Nationals $50,000 to win Late Model race at CLS the first weekend in August.  Knoxville is twelve hours round trip so I rarely get down there anymore.  If the All Stars came to Cedar Lake with the IRA I'd go see them but I won't take vacation, travel and get a motel for that a handful of unfamiliar cars and drivers.

I can't speak for my fellow upper midwesterners but that's my take from my vantage point.

1.) Guy Webb sells the series

2.) be willing to take the wing off and schedule non wing shows in Indiana and Illinois

3.) get rid of the regional points system

4.) base the series out of central ohio

5.) travel only to OH, IN, PA, MI, IL, IA, WI, NY, ONT

6.) create a reasonable 50 race schedule that has shorter travel on Fridays and longer travel on Saturdays

just my opinion and I'm sure it's easier said than done

Regarding #6.

Are the All Stars like NASCAR where all of the teams are based in the same town?

Historically most of the travelers come from Ohio, or the team is based in Ohio.
