Rumor has it that Jamie ball had an illegal motor due to head Angle but gets to keep the win and the points, but motor builder gets fine. Wtf. Seems like a slippery slope knoxville is treading on if this turns out to be true.

shouldn't surprise anyone at all if this Is true. Yet again knoxville raceway letting their "golden" boys get away with it all.

Knoxville needs to address this soon. Ball has worked hard for his first 360 win and doesn't deserve his victory to be questioned if this is only a rumor. If it was illegal, he needs to step up, admit it, detail whether he knew or not, and take his lumps. Otherwise, every success he has going forward will be questioned and his Knoxville, and maybe sprint car reputation, will be trashed.

Seems to me where there's smoke, there's fire... Raceway should address the situation. Bad deal for Ball either way - whether he knew or not it was an illegal motor (guessing not), the track is making a decision to go outside the bounds of their rules, potentially tarnishing the reputations of all involved. Has to be more to the story in my opinion...

Does Knoxville Speedway monitor this sight? The Officals need to respond to this yesterday!!
Dirt is for racing. Asphalt is for getting there.

Question How did they find out the head angle was wrong?

Ofcourse they do how do you think they would know what to do without the help of this board.
A very common question from the officals is what would hosehead people do?

Whether he knew about it or not doesn't matter. Ultimately he is responsible for the car meeting all of the rules. Why should the engine builder be fined at all? I feel bad for the teams who work their tails off and get beat by someone who cheats. I assumed the rules were pretty black and white on cheating. ...... Get caught and you lose winnings, points, disqualified, and fined. When has that changed?

It's probably safe to assume he has used that motor before and probably will again.... Sickening that I cheered when he won.

This only matters to the small and I mean small group of people in the world that actually care about cars running in a circle on a dirt track, so why the fuss? If he cheated then he cheated geeeeezzzzz

OMG.. really. angle milled heads have been cut for years. its not a totally illegal machining process, 90% of the field has cheated either today or yesterday with or without notice, the fact of a short purse from becoming a millionair makes this discussion void. have it corrected by next week or remain running out of the inspection area . pretty simple math.. to whom believes thier next job oppertunity will rely on the position before Ball's finish position is nieve to the fact this is just a hobby....

Rumor has it that Dan Smith likes to spread rumors! Rumors should not be posted on a forum, This is someones reputation that you are potentially trashing with absolutely no facts to back it up. These rumors can also land people in court. Libel-Libel is the written "publication" of a defamatory remark that has the tendency to injure another's reputation or character.
Come back with some facts and make a real post otherwise posts like this should be automatically deleted.
There were rumors going around one time that me and my son were running built engines in our class of racing....the funny thing is it was an outlaw class that allowed built motors..... I guess women (like Dan Smith) just just need something to talk about!

like it or not it is not a rumor, the biggest problem is that if he failed tech inspection which he did and nothing is done to deter them from coming back with the same engine. How is that even remotely fair to the competition who comes with legal parts. Let it also be noted that 4 of the top 6 in points are running engines from the builder in question, not implicating any of the others just saying what if you were running for a championship and knew that at least one if not more of the competition was cheating. To me Knoxville has to put their foot down right now or this issue is about to get a lot bigger. Either kick out the illegal engines or eait for the legal ones to quit showing up, which many teams are already discussing. Why have rules if you don't enforce them. Why have tech lane if it doesn't matter.

No I don't. I found this out from a raceway official.
I don't like anyone who clearly goes outside the rules. It's simply not fair to the other drivers who have legal cars. There are rules for a reason.

Couldn't agree with you more. doesnt knoxville tech the top 4 or 5 cars?? So cars with the same engine builder made it through tech just fine last week.
