The promotor of Hanford, Ca has been ordered to vacate in 30 days. This is a result of a vindictive attack on the speedway by the fairboard. Seems the fairboard does not like racing and would like to have events that would attract a higher class of clientle.

Awhile back Ventura Raceway went thru a similar attack by their fairboard, in that case they wanted to shut the track down. Ventura survived because fans kicked up a fuss.

All events at Hanford have been cacelled. The biggest event would hvae been the Cotton Classic in October which would have run King of the West 410 winged sprints, USAC/CRA 410 nonwings and USAC West Coast 360 nonwings.

Havent read anywhere that any major races are cancelled, but instead, Scott Woodhouse is looking to being moved them another track, likely to Tulare, but im guessing.

From Kings Speedway Facebook page:

"The Civil War show, cotton classic and dirt nationals are being moved to another facility. Information to come soon. We have been served our 30 day notice to vacate"

Dave there is a meeting July 16, 2014 at 6PM at the fair grounds and they are encouraging everyone to attend.  Seems that there is a lot of misinformation surrounding what has happened hearsay and rumors.  I personally spoke to Kate, the CEO, and was given an accounting of what has happened and why. All information is on record and public knowledge.  They are not against racing, in fact very much in favor of it. There will be racing at Kings in the future according to Kate. Scott announced at the drivers meeting Saturday night that he was not coming back next year. The fair board received an inquiry from someone interested in becoming the next promoter after Scotts announcement. That was the first the fair board had heard Scott wasn't going to promote next year. Since Satuday night there have been others wanting to do the same.

There are two sides to every story and if anyone is really interested they should attend the meeting and listen and get the documented facts before making any judgements regarding Kings Speedway. I love Kings and racing there, always have, and I have faith and confidence in what the fair board says and know there will be another promoter and racing at Kings in the future.  Happy that Tulare will take the Cotton Classic and that the race will happen for KWS and USAC 360s.

This makes more sense. While it is too long a haul for me to go there now I have always loved that place. Many great memories created there and even my run-in with the camp Nazi still couldn't cloud how I feel about the place. Thanks for your update on this.

The races themselves will go on elsewhere, just as Scott stated they would. The "Biggest Event" in the Cotton Classic will happen, at Tulare. It has not been cancelled.
