15 races into the season. Don't look now but Kyle is tied for 7th in points only 8 points out of 6th. I don't know about the rest of you but I think that is pretty incredible. I think wins are just around the corner too. If not this year--next season for sure.

i think it's cool that everyone was complaining just how fast he was and blamed it on not having a rear bumper cover.
also tony stewart blamed larson for moving up maybe an inch on him when he got into larson on a start but tony moved up half the track to block kenseth at one time. i guess that was ok.
it always seems the faster you are the less friends you have on track. maybe by the end of the year larson won't have any.
to indy and beyond!!

Not at all surprised by what he's accomplished. The skys the limit for him. Two mistakes today and still a top ten. He drove the wheels off it all day.

As much as I'd like to see him back on dirt, he's doing too well in NAPSCAR to risk it, I think.....

It's pretty fun to see him succeed this early into his career. It will be interesting to see how he does next week on a road course.

Seems like the only thing Kyle can't figure out is how to shift on starts. Lol. He gets swarmed every time. But as soon as he gets it wound up he drives right back by most of them. That move he put on Smoke on the outside after Smoke had hit him in the RR was pretty funny. Smoke thought he was on the top but Kyle took the Haud route and dirt tracked right around him above the top and drove off. Lol. The kid has been pretty amazing so far. He really needs a win to lock into the chase for sure. That would be something for his first year. Most other drivers are talking good about him so far but they're gonna get tired of him beating them before long. He's making it look too easy.

Exactly Buzz. How many times have we seen guys get front end damage (I know this was Kyle's rear bumber in this case) and come in to the pits and get a bunch of "200 -mph tape" put on and it actualy seems to make their car faster!. Who was bitching about it? (I can probably guess and get close though)
Tony's just po'ed that he didn't sign Larson before Chip did.
Question for anyone/everyone: do you have a win a race to make the Chase with the new format? Or will a good top-ten points finish, minus a win, get Kyle into the Chase? (I'm certainly not discounting him winning a race by the time the Chase starts though!)

Wins bump you above drivers without (you do have to be in like the top 25 or so in points though).

My understanding of the chase is there will be 16 cars in. Race winners that are in the top 30 in points will be first in. After that it goes by points to fill the remaining 16 spots. So you don't necessarily have to win to be in. Right now there's 10 race winners. Kyle is 2nd in points without a win so he'd be in. Kenseth is above him in points with no wins yet. Smoke is on the outside as well as Dillion at this point. If 2 or 3 more win his risk of not getting in would go up a lot. That first win would pretty much guarantee he'd be in. Winning also improves your spot when they reset the points for the chase. Rigth now he'd be the in the 12th spot. With a win right now he'd be in 8th. To have a decent chance at a championship he really needs a win or even two to start the chase further up the list. There's a long way to go. He just has to keep up the pace and avoid any disasters. A couple of DNFs could knock him all the way out. Here's hoping he gets in and gives them a run for it.
