What's the advantage to qualifying well if there is no dash? It seems like all the fast qualifiers are at the back and then have to get top 4 to make the A main. Maybe I am confused on the format?

Kulhanek leads the first lap but Jeffrey gets by at the line to lead. Jeffrey has a huge lead with Shepard on the move now in third. Shepard now gets JD Johnson for second. Hafertepe is fourth.

Qualifying points are worth just as much as feature points. If you don't qualify in the Top 15, you don't have much of a chance to win Saturday.
There was contact between Shepard and another car on the start and the yellow comes out for Shepard who slowed to a stop. We did get a lap in and Martin will be the leader followed by Hockett, Higday and Ballou. McCarl did not get a good original start, having nearly made contact with Shepard as he started to slow. Higday lost a wing side panel on the next attempt and slowed on the backstretch. Cram actually hit the panel and it is jammed into his hood. Higday is in the work area and now Cram pulls there as well. Cram is getting a safety check because of the wing and will get his spot back, however it has damaged his nose wing. Higday's crew will not get his new wing on in time. Martin leads follwed by Hockett and W. Johnson. Then Lynch. Mccarl goes three wide to get sixth. It's Martin, W. Johnson, Lynch now with Hockeett and Bruce fighting for the transfer. McCarl is closing on the duo.
Sather leads then Gregg, Gharst and Kaeding. Droud is fifth. Lap four goes to sather. Gharst has an engine go up in smoke. It is Gregg, Sather, Droud, Kaeding Maeschen, Chaney. Lap six to "Gregg. Maeschen is sixth.Chaney is fifth. top four with two laps are Gregg, Sather, Droud Kaeding.
Not a good start on this one....we'll try again. Brown got sideways and collected Logan who collect Kinser. Kinser's car is laying on his side. No one is hurt. Brown's car came on around. He had clipped the back bumper of the car in front of him and that threw him sideways. Sorry about the car # correction. The scorer's changed it after time trials and we were not aware of it. Also, Baldaccini was added to the lineup and we did not know that either. We were told he had scratched. Logan will not restart but all Kinser needed was a top wing. Complete restart with Kinser in the rear starting eighth. Wilson takes lap one with King second. Then Brown, Smith, Haud, and Kinser. Haud nearly put Kinser into the fence (while racing). It is Wilson, Brown, King, and Kinser after seven laps. Then it is Haud, Smith, Landis, Hindi
Top 2 will transfer in this 8 lap event. Gharst will not start as his motor has not gotten changed. Logan apparently will not start either. Nor will Baldaccini. Jacobs leads. Hillier is a solid second.

Ya personally I think the format sucks...Everyone knows the track changes a lot during qualifying so its the luck of the draw. Why they put so much emphasis on qualifying just doesn't make sense to me.
I don't know about that. Bronson Maeschen went out 42nd and was 4th quick. Sounds like the track was still pretty good. Who is the mechanic on that ride anyway?
