SUBJECT: The Journey

A one hundred seventy mile one way ticket through Maryland Via Interstate 70 & 68...We, in Maryland are among the highest taxed individuals in the Union but, traveling this route makes you apreciate where those tax dollars are spent...

Whoever wrote "America the Beautiful" had to have traveled this route at some point...

Temps were in the high 70's with only cumulous clouds in the sky with a very light breeze...Lows were in the mid 60's...

Serius XM channel 34 (Lithium Rock) provided the back ground noise too and fro...

Traffic was light which makes for stress free diving...

SUBJECT: Accomidations

A VIP Parking spot was located on the exit road upon my arrival...

Pit Passes were only 20% more than a GA ticket...That was a no brainer...

After surveying the landscape, I found the best seat to be in the turn two pit bleacher which offered an unobstructed view of the track...

SUBJECT: You never know who you might meet

Ray Baim, yes the same Ray Baim who works at Port Royal's pit gate and PennLives Sprint Car Unlimited weekly pod cast...He was working the pit gate last night...

I wasted no time in grabbing a seat next to him and proceeded to introduced myself, first as "Stan Donnit" and then my given name...

I told him that I was his biggest critic, but only because I want the show to improve as it has week to week...

He said he reads hoseheads, so if your reading this Ray, it was very nice to meet you...

Speaking of hoseheads, our very own CrazyJoe was in the house...He was working a tow truck and also brought over some push trucks to assist in the proceedings...He was, in my opinion, too busy for me to reintroduce myself, so I left him to his duties...

SUBJECT: On Track Action...

Heating the motors...Just after rewatering the track, someone got the bright idea that it was time to get the motors warm...

What a clusterfuck of push trucks, tow trucks and race cars getting stuck in the muck...Definateley a WTF situation...

SUBJECT: On Track Action II

Time trials consisted of two laps each... Hogneck was your quick timer and the only issue in TT's was that The Smooth Kriminal, Alan Krimes suffered a broken throttle cable as identified by a crew member...

There are no speakers in the pits so I can't provide anymore than that...

SUBJECT: On The Track III

Three heat races using an inversion of four were employed...Eight laps per heat...

One caution in one of the heats for a spinning car that got collected by a back marker was it for yellows...

Prime Mover goes to The Smooth Kriminal, Alan Krimes going from last to third in his heat...Not that it mattered, they made him start last in the feature...

SUBJECT: Intermission

In another WTF moment, the track crew decided to drop a piss load of water on the track and procede to unentertain us with, what seemed like an hours worth of a push truck parade...REALLY???

The push trucks did what they could and then they put the late models on the track and had to run 10-12 hot laps and the late model feature to recover that track...Again...WTF???

SUBJECT: The Finally II

At the drop of the green Coal Duncan took the lead followed by Holtgraver, Jac, DD and Hogneck...

Duncan held the lead for the first third of the race and Holtgraver was able to slip by...At the same time, DD was able to get by Jac for third and Hogneck had a stronghold on 5TH...

The middle third of the race saw DD and Duncan in a ferocious battle for second while Holtgrave opened up a sizable margin...

DD was able to slip by Duncan for second but never was able to break free...

Heavy traffic and changing lines allowed DD to cut into the leaders margin and by lap 27, he was looking for a way around...

After taking the white flag, DD through a monster slider (clean) in turns one and two and held on for the victory over Holtgraver, Duncan, Jac and Hogneck...Krimes was the prime mover, passing more cars than anyone else...

SUBJECT: Final Thoughts

Best night of racing for me to date...This was my 20TH race of the season, and I've seen mostly good ones...

Quote of the Night..."Just a little worst than Susky."...I agree, but just like Susky, the racing is fantastic...

By far, the best convection in all of motorsports...The Homemade Lemon Poundcake...A fistfull for a dollar and tasted better than my Grandma used to make...I got two...

Turn 4 at the Knob....The most demanding corner in all of dirt motorsports....Hands down...

Next up, USAC @ Lincoln on Wednesday...I hope they inspire me to write some more... Smile

P.S......All the guys I sit with plus the Westhafer racing team joined dad and I.....They Loved the Name Bent Parts.....for Brent Marks. Rodney was bummed he couldn't race Port this week so we made him feel better by telling Him Bent Parts is 5 wrecked cars ahead of him....lol.....

Always good to catch up Slink...I don't think you ruined my chicken dinner as much as the guy or gal who over cooked it...   wink

I don't know why your surprised that no one in the pits likes Bent Parts, it seems pretty obvious...  :/

You chicken sh!t you could ve rode along and talked during the run in. Nice track not really a sprint car track on a regular basis but could be a great home for special events like this one. Cannot believe more cars did not show for the money and perks! Glad we took plenty of push trucks only two showed up from the area. Great race only issue was like you stated the over watering. With all that was involved in this show it went well, many more to come

Joe, it's Susky West...An under developed facility that produces great racing...

It's not hard to see where Cody got his driving prowess, any lesser driver would have stuffed that tow truck in the wall... wink

We need to work on getting more cars to Bedford this week. The teams need to know the future in investing in events like this will be decided in the support they get from the drivers aka teams, this area has plenty of cars to provide a great show, by not supporting this will only lead to moving to another area to promote I am afraid of.
