I'll be heading to Chicago in July for work related training and wanted to know if a trip south to Lincoln Park Speedway and Kokomo Speedway would be worth it. I see Lincoln Park Speedway has a race on Saturday July 26 (27th annual Putnamville clash) and Kokomo on Sunday July 27 (Bob Darland Memorial). What type of car count could be expected for these events, or what has been your experience at these events? As it's only a 3 - 4 hour drive, I'll probably go anyway, as I have never been to these facilities. Just wanted to know what to expect as far as the racing goes.
Thanks,

Lincoln Park pulls a good field in all classes, You can bring a cooler and the main grandstand is built on a hillside with enough room between benches for lawn chairs and the sun drops behind you. When the tracks right you'll have catfishers and cushion bangers in real traditional action.
Kokomo sits at the edge of a cornfield and is the raciest bullring in the world. There is no real groove, They haul it in anywhere, While there are some things I dont like about the track, Not being able to bring a cooler or anything to eat. The seating is good, The racing is great.
Have a great weekend, should be a couple barn burners that several different teams could win at each.

I would ask this same question on IndianaOpenWheel.com
It is a very active web site and they will give you a lot of help about anything Open Wheel related in Indiana.

I have been to Kokomo 5 times and never have seen a bad race. I am 1000 miles from the track and if I was any closer I would be there every Sunday night.

LPS can have uneven track conditions, but the sprint car racing is very well attended. Kokomo is a no brainer. Since both of the dates that you have chosen are special events, there should be pretty solid car counts for the sprints at both tracks.

GO! I caught a race at Haubstadt on my way to Knoxville last year & I'm now permanently sold on wingless Indiana bullrings. Desperately trying to fit Speedweeks or Kokomo Smackdown into my schedule this summer, day & a half drive from CT. makes it tricky..... maybe I'll look into plane fares now...

If there is anyway possible to squeeze a visit in to haubstadt I STRONGLY suggest it. Best prepped track you will find. Can't really go wrong with the Indiana bullrings
There is no replacement for cubic displacement
