Tony Stewart held court with the media at Dover; here is our Pete Pistone's story from that session:

You're Thoughts?

Tony is a racer...pure and simple.  Shades of A.J.  For years I have wondered if old A.J. was his "daddy!"  Wink

The three words in his statement to the media said it all. "It's my life".....

He's paid his dues and built his empire through his own hard work and dedication and has earned the right to do whatever he pleases.

I just hope he picks some off the wall speedway in the middle of no where for his first race so the media hacks won't be able to ruin his fun.

Super Chuck says good for him.  Smoke thumbing his nose at all those hacks (some of you included) that were saying he shouldn't/wouldn't/can't be driving those mean, scary, terrible, deadly sprint cars.  He's earned the right to do whatever the hell he wants....and he will.

I think it's great that he strapped back in and is chomping at the bit to race on dirt again. Very good interview.

Don't know what the dover schedule of events is for the weekend but, given its close proximity, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see his rig up here (PA) this weekend.

The ASCS speedweek is just around the corner. Smoke has made appearances the last two years at Lawton Speedway, and Creek County Speedway during Speedweek.  I'd have to put my money on those two places.

The NASCAR media has shown how arrogant and full of themselves they are since Tony got hurt.  The general concensus among NASCAR writers is that Sprint Cars are too dangerous but Sprint Cup cars are safe.  I wouldn't wish anything bad on the Sprint Cup series but they should be careful how much they boast about their safety record.  One scenario I have envisioned with this restrictor plate path racing would be an airborne car getting into the most vulnerable spot on a Stock Car, the windshild.  There are a lot of scenarios in Cup that could remind them that despite their advances in techology it's still dangerous to go 200+ mph four wide in a pack.

They're still looking for a lost airplane when nobody would have believed one could get lost so that should go to show that the impossible is possible.  Sprint Car racing had a rough couple of seasons so I hope things settle down.  They'll forget about Tony's crash as soon as they jump on the next NASCAR news tidbit.

I   give   Tony   Stewart   much credit  for   answering the media   the way he did . Sprint   car  racing  and  all   forms of  dirt track  racing  has   it  all over   NASCAR . The   media   is  looking   to   find   fault   in sprint  car   racing  especially after   the  unfortunate  accidents  of last year .  NASCAR   COULD   LEARN SOME   VALUABLE  LESSIONS   FOR  SHORT TRACK RACING  IN GENERAL .

Good for you Tony. Wherever it is that you decide to get back into the mix with it, I hope you have a blast. Even though some of the folks boo you just because you are successful, we can't wait to see you back in the car.

Ya Know, all this chatter on Tonys dilema in Osky last year, Tony Knows 100% what could happen to him and the other 24 some odd  drivers strapped into a sprintcar that night, there isnt a Sprint driver out there today that doesnt understand the chances for leg injury in a sprint is a higher risk than other forms  of dirt racing (stockcar ect).. He's well aware of it and he accepts it, but if it happens, the pain is the most irritable, and just maybe the media?

Nascar Fans/Media like to show ownership of drivers in a certain sanctioning , Like, where did these crown Jewels come from? did they just strap into a heavy a$$ restricted turd and show up in a 18 wheeler at Daytona one day?

Tony was racing Midgets and Sprintcars long before his Stockcar endevor.. he was just like may of us, a competitor in dirt sprintcars, just where did Jeff Gordon come from? .. I like the fact Tony can set his Nascar life aside for a moment and run his roots in racing.   ill make this as simple as possible..

"Nascar is his Job, Sprintcars is his passion"

Glad your Back in the saddle Tony.

Seems like Tony`s passion is still there. He was quoted several years ago..."I race NASCAR to support my sprint car habit."
After what happened to Tony last year, makes you wonder if some owners like Ganassi, Hendrick and others might try to restrict their drivers in future contracts.  Tony is his own boss but others aren`t so lucky.
