Unfortunately, Ratbag was bought out years ago. Our best hope is that the guys that make the "Dirt" series of rally racing type games will step up and do one, but like the other person said, don't get your hopes up. On the "Dirt Showdown" game there is a sprinter that reacts and feels pretty true, but it's only used in rally/street course type racing.

I still play my WoO Sprint Cars PC game from about 2002 almost daily on my lunch hour. I still think that was the best one to come out.

A console version is extremely unlikely at this point. With that being said, the THQ game that was released for PS3/Xbox 360 a few years back was a surprise as well.
PC is the way to go for these things - rFactor is about the best you can ask for. A great variety of quality sprint car mods, wingless and non-winged, as well as other dirt cars (from late models to modifieds to stock cars to POWRI Midgets to Winged 600cc Sprints). Single player leaves a lot lacking but the engine for the game is built on pavement - it's difficult to teach AI cars how to drive a dirt style when they're programmed for asphalt.
rFactor has a pretty loyal following and you'll find weekly leagues along with special events that are all very fun to run. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to do dirt racing.

Codemasters (the makers of Dirt and Formula 1 games) actually had another game called ToCA Race Driver 3 that was for the PS2. That game included every major discipline of motorsport including winged sprint cars. The sprint cars were done pretty horribly though because the game's engine was based around touring cars. So the sprint cars shifted gears and there was only two tracks for them to race one, which weren't realistic at all. That game is still an absolute blast though with the other types of cars. Just the sprint cars are bad.

I play rFactor as well and recommend it. Like you said it is the best option.

Unfortunately I don't see this happening anytime soon. Are we on pace for consoles to have 1 game every decade?
The best game I've played in regards to racing on dirt is Dirt 3. I'm still waiting for a sprint car game that has "grooves" instead of an oval skating rink.
